Do you just call anyone who isn't your top choice "Butch 2.0"?

I swear I've heard this in reference to almost everyone who have ever been mentioned here and has something even vaguely resembling a blemish on his resume. Apparently 90% of coaches in college football are Butch Jones.

Yes they do. Some act like we had a chance at Chip and now that he is at UCLA they think we failed. It's over. We're doomed. Blah blah blah. If we get Mullen then we have upgraded more than most think. Enjoy the ride.

Nah. My favorite is Gruden, but Patterson, Petersen, or Gundy would be great to have. i'm up in the air about Mullen, but I would hardly call him Butch 2.0.
Of the names listed, Brohm would be Butch 2.0 on game day. Shiano is BJ 2.0 when it comes to locker room etiquette.

I love Tennessee. Went to school and graduated there. Bled orange for many decades. If they hire another Google Coach, I will still love Tennessee, but will spend my time cheering for another team...one that takes football serious.

I've seen numerous negative comments about every coach that's been mentioned as a potential hire. Not enough P5 experience, is a mediocre coordinator at best, lost games while coaching HS ball etc. What amazes me is that the UT AD hasn't reached out to any of the experts in the fan base to make sure he gets the hire right. Healthy discussion is one thing, some of what's been said is downright pitiful.

The problem is there aren't any coaches out there that we realistically have a shot at getting that are demonstrably better than Butch. That's why a lot of us preached patience when the pitchforks and torches came out last season. Congratulations, you whined until you got what you wanted. Now we've fired Butch. And the same people are acting surprised that we aren't going to get that imaginary home run hire? The one that has always been nothing more than a pipe dream?

If we get Mullen we just upgraded from diarrhea to nice firm stools. Still crap. Dude is extremely overrated and would suck here.

Butch was at Tennessee and had the best team in a weak East twice.
I’m not saying Mullen is a worldbeater. I’m just saying it’s erroneous to say he’s another Butch.

And THIS is what is wrong with UT fanbase...WHY? What EXACTLY do we not have that other schools do??? NOTHING. We have hired people that haven't worked out. So has the rest of college football. Name me ONE school that has not had a down period.

I swear to God...my school has a fan base that is entirely made up of cucks... **** that. We deserve nice things... we show up for NOT NICE... yet, we PAY for nice things... more than ever, we seem to have leadership that finally understands...We WILL GET nice things...

All the hate and hand wringing about currie... I Dont Get. HE STARTED THIS HIMSELF BY NOT EXTENDING AND GIVING ***** A RAISE...that in itself is a change.. everything else is window dressing.

you don't sell a 340MM stadium upgrade with Mullen or coachwhothe****didwejustname

I’m with you on this thread. Anyone not named Gruden is being called trash. Because Gruden has done so much for college football. I’d be happier with a Patterson or Peterson. I’m not sold on Mullen. I just don’t think it’s a huge upgrade for us.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large #s.
