Do you hate Phillip Fulmer?

No not at all but you can't realistically think a team can win a championship every year or won't ever have a bad stretch. We hope for it but it just dont work that way. You gotta take the bad with the good.

Ten years without a championship at UT isn't bad, it's inexcusable. CPF was lucky to survive until 08. Losing to Wyoming was just the topping on the cake.

The regular season game meant jack. LSU showed up to play in the game that mattered. What's sad is that UT was one win away from playing for a National Title, and CPF couldn't get them there. No excuse for UT missing that game.

What went wrong is CPF got taken behind the woodshed by Saban. That's what went wrong, my ill-informed friend.

Is that what happened to USCjr. They FINALLY make it to the championship game & spurrier gets taken to the woodshed by chizik. It was a weak sec east this year.

We brought shame to ourselves, and our division. No question about that.

The fact remains that CPF went ten years without winning a championship. You can tout division titles all you want, but they are meaningless.

What does a USCjr guy know about championships? Oh wait y'all won an ACC championship back in the stone ages with a 7-4 record. That's about the same as y'alls division title this year.

Dude I honestly have no idea why you're debating this. If you take a coach & plug him in at USCjr in 1992 until present with the numbers Fulmer had you guys would be turning flips. He would get an extension & raise every year & still be there.

Fixed that for ya. That virtually word seemed oddly out of place.

What do I know about them? I know that keeping a coach that has lost control of the program isn't the way to right the ship. I also know that unless you deliver, you are subject to the consequences. CPF failed to deliver for ten years. I love seeing you show up in a thread, because I can always be assured that you will say something stupid, and then continue down the same path of idiocy until you are in a hole you cannot climb out of. It's very entertaining, and unlike CPF, you keep delivering.

LOL wow. What are the most wins USCjr has had in a season the past 10 years? How many championships in let's say the last 20? You guys have a coach in control though. He wants to pay players & has let a guy back on the team that has been kicked off 5 times. How many guys were in limbo for awhile for staying in a hotel without paying. Don't throw stones a glass house bud.

Spurrier was certainly in control of Fulmer.

WTF does that mean. Did they stop playing 11 on 11? Outlaw the forward pass? What significant changes occured between the 90's and 00's?

lol, well not exactly.

His recruiting slipped and his coaching ability was being tested each week instead of 2 times a year. He couldn't keep up with how good other programs were getting and the meta game within SEC football figured his play calling style out and responded. He was unable to do the same.

Fulmer is a VOL 4 LIFE.
if an AD was hired for their passion of a university he would be great. as far as the business side of things I don't know

Nobody in here hates Phil Fulmer. Just knew it was time for a new football coach.

Patently false. Plenty on here hate the man.

Even I can have some sympathy for the FCF crowd. It is clear it was wrong-headed now, but I can have some sympathy with the feeling that maybe it was time for Phil to step down.

I'm not sure where I stand on him as AD. I would love to see him back in some capacity. A lot would depend on the interview for me, if he interviews for the position. I'd have to know where he thinks it went wrong, and his vision for the UTAD future. I don't think he should be annoited AD.

Welcome to reality, gibbs, it's nice to have you back.

I've never said anything but this, lylsmorr.

However, reality suggests just exactly how wrong-headed the sentiment was. That's clear and unambiguous now. From the piss poor way it was handled (and we know Hambone HAD to handle it that way in order to try to affect the final games of the season), to THE PLAN, to the "search."

Go Vols! Go Dooley!

I never liked him after he stabbed Johnny in the back. However, he was a great coach for his time, and owned in the 90s, and brough the only national title of my life.

So he's a legend for me.

so Spurrier is entering his 6th year, when does Hyman pull the trigger on the ol ball coach...
is it this year or year 7, 8 or 9

Fulmer led us to a National Championship. He is a true VFL as many have said and it was time for him to go as head coach but he was good for Tennessee. He does not deserve a thread like this.

Go VOLS!!!

I'll say this for the 38th time, but read slowly so you can understand. Garcia has done nothing aside from vandalizing a car that warrants kicking him off the team. This is a situation where knowing what the hell you are talking about would save you from looking stupid, but you never seem to know what you are talking about.

Furthermore, compare CPF's track record for discipline with CSS's. He is very much in control of our football program. CPF, however, lost control well before 08. You're slowly, but surely rising to gibbs' level.
