Per NCAA Rules:

What is a dead period?

During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.

I live outside the conference so I pull for my conference to show as good as possible. It helps UT look better when they improve. When UT wins the NC, I hope Alabama's only loss is to UT. Edit: Only two losses are both to UT.
Oh puleeeez It makes Bama or Georgia look good. Doesn't do **** for us. People that believe it does are delusional and trying to justify the clock cleaning they got by the champions.

ESPN gonna help Tennessee recruiting?

You funny. Probably won’t mention it except maybe to say he “ was 6th choice”.

Every time the camera shows Saban talking to Pruitt the guys calling the game will say something like “Saban appears to be discussing this upcoming 3rd down play with Pruitt”
“More likely he’s asking him why he took the dumpster fire job at UT”
“Hahaha probably telling him his position will be open if the UT fans run him off after his first loss”

SEC loses and the press here is often that the SEC is on the way down.

that if Jeremy Pruitt wins the National Championship at Bama, this could potentially save our recruiting class? Initially we were ranked 6th and now we've fallen down to 27th according to 247. We've lost some key recruits like Cade Mays as an example. Having a recent NC winning coach like Jeremy Pruitt would make Tennessee look much more appealing to prospective recruits.

I don't give a Da.n how this class ends up. Even if it means we can't sign a single kid, I will never root for Bama. And any Vol fan over the age of 10 should feel the same

Our best scenario is for Bama to lose a close game where the defense shows out but they lose in the last minute. That way he gets the praise but gets back sooner and gets back to the job we just hired him for.

I am not sure I believe the estimates I have seen that 2/3 - 3/4 of the class will be signed early -- unless it is heavily weighted to the bottom portion of the class. Except in spots where a school might fill their entire class in the early period, I expect many higher rated recruits to sign later either to keep their options open or because they haven't decided yet. Although I don't expect many 18 year old football players to understand, an option can be valuable.

Another factor that may keep the estimates from being accurate is the number of coaching changes.

We need Ala's defense to shine regardless of the outcome. If Clemson puts up 50 on them the recruiting class for sure won't improve.

Do you guys ever wonder why this thing exists? It's full of hyperbole that makes you question what the f&$@ was I thinking 3 years ago when you look back in time. Unless of course you turn out to be right. Which we haven't been in 15 years.
Example: dobbs4heisman
JK, long time listener, 1st time caller

I don't understand the downside in allowing him to finish the season. He is here recruiting until the dead period. He is only there only during the dead period. Exposure is a plus after the dead period. To me, the upside is greater than the downside.

Because you can still recruit during the dead period.

Thinking we can still get a top 15-20 class. Look what Kiffin did when taking over for Phil. Early sign period is going to hurt. No doubt.

The reason is that they equate hating bamma with loving TN.

My love for TN comes first and if I think an alabummer win will help us just this once (and I do - that ring will be with him for all the time he recruits here), I will swallow my hate for Bama for a few hours.

TN always comes first.

I will not be rooting for Alabama under any circumstances...no matter who their coaches are. I will be rooting for Jeremy Pruitt when he is OUR coach. :)

I totally get those of you who hate Bama regardless and I can't stand them either. But yall seriously wouldn't want a coach to come home to TN that just won a Nattie? Really?

Kirby Smart at Georgia is proof that recruits definitely notice your ability to win championships. Georgia scored a top 4 2017 recruiting class and are in the CFP this year. One of those recruits happened to be Jake Fromm. You know what? Tennessee could use a good quarterback right now.

Don't think about short term, think about the long term implications for Tennessee. We could be in the same boat as Georgia in 3 or so years if CJP wins this football game.

Try living in this ****hole where two painters with no duhgree much less a HS diploma, want to fight you because you have a power T on your vehicle. I tossed a beer and a bag of pork rinds out into the parking lot to bait them away from me while I drove off.

Yeah I made the pork rinds and beer part up but it would have been better than what I actually did and probably more effective.
