Do you get....

Yep, expecting us to beat the worst Kentucky team in 20 years when we've got a bowl game on the line is exactly the same thing as expecting to win a national championship every year. Identical.
first off that was far from the worst UK team in 20 years or even 5 years... but good try.

You were starting from scratch, Dooley was given the pro shop next to Pebble Beach. The expectations would be a little different if UT just fielded a football team 5 years ago.

If that's the analogy you want to use then Dooley was given the pro shop after years of mismanagement had left it full of inventory that wouldn't sell, limited funds to buy new stuff, and nothing to do with the old stuff but live with it until it was gone.

I don't know if the guy can run a first rate shop or not... but he definitely didn't inherit one.

I expected UT to win.

I think when the time comes again for Hart et al to consider Dooley's future again that game should be a factor if he does nothing to redeem himself.

I am NOT arguing for Dooley to remain UT's coach.

I am arguing that the constant negativity being spewed by WAY too many Vol fans is bad for the program. Dooley has a $5 million parachute. That's the worst that can happen to him. The effect on the program could be much worse.

Neither did James Franklin, in fact, his shop was far worse but he knew how to use his timeouts properly, got the players to line up correctly, didn't get blown out in the second half, took his "shop" to a bowl (albeit with an easier schedule but he did this with Vandy) and he knew how to use his personal (in reference to D. Young always running the same sweep play)

that was the worst kentucky football team since bill curry put one of his horrible teams on the field

part of the reasons why these arguments get so heated is that people are not willing to admit to the obvious.

losing to that kentucky team, without a qb, was an absolute embarrassment. period. end of story. next case

Don't know about worst but definitely a very, very bad UK team.

Even considering all of UT's challenges, it should have been a win.

.... what you ask for whether you want it or not?

Rather than continue to answer posts all over the place, I'll just say it once here.

Those constantly posting and starting threads about firing Dooley are "asking" for a particular football program. They are asking for a program set another year or more back. They are asking for a roster made up of players not talented enough to win in the SEC... they are asking for the mediocrity or even failure that they are claiming to condemn. They are asking for a football program where once again a new coach with probably a light resume will come into a VERY difficult situation.

You are trying to put Dooley on the hot seat you think he deserves. In doing that, you are providing fodder for other programs to negative recruit. If you get what you want then in addition to the generally depressed state of the program and competition of the SEC and tough recruiting situation UT faces.... candidates for the job will have to consider a roster that won't be as good as it might have been AND realize that they too are probably gone in short order if they don't pull of a miracle.

So "fans", keep it up. The two most likely results of your efforts are a) a weaker roster and b) a less attractive job to try to sell the next coach on.

BTW, congrats. Today is evidence that your persistence is paying off.

And YES... there will be a time to hold the UT HC accountable for W/L's. And YES... losing hurts recruiting credibility.... but what can fans do about that? Nothing. If DD loses then he falls regardless... what fans say though can hurt the whole program.

you are all over the board, let's get one thing straight our comments have no relationship to your boy Dooley's failures. Your post is a dud and so is Dooley. Thanks for enlightening us though.

You and I know it won't stop until he either wins the conference or goes away. He can go away alot sooner than he can win the SEC. Once everyone's on board with the inevitable we can all join hands and let the healing begin.

You don't get 100,000 screaming people in the stands when things are going well and then not have negativity when things are bad. Human beings just don't work that way. You want the impossible.

That's not a hindrance.

I agree In fact I agree with with your whole stance on Dookey. The man is not the answer here, and I hope he is gone sooner rather than later. The KY game was all I needed to see. Dude just cannot get UT done here. It is PAINFULLY obvious. I just hope that Hart and company actually hire a big time PROVEN coach when he is gone. We see where the cheapskate route has
gotten us. It's time to put up or shut up, or be stuck in less than mediocrity.

We have a segment of our fan base that makes Bama fans look like Einstein.
