That Montes D Schemes will work great against urban cryers O. I know this may be a stupid question, but i've been lurking on a few other SEC teams boards and they believe that our D will suck against Urban Cryers O.

He will scheme his defense around their offensive attack. It will be no different than any other team imo. We will be fine against them. They are just worried because we have an NFL hall of fame coach on defense.

We won't know until we hit the field. But we do know this....

CMK's defense has served him well. He is more than capable of making adjustments to his scheme as is needed and has some talent to work with.

I'd say the odds are in the Vol's favor.

I believe that Monte knows he has to take a different approach against the spread than typical NFL offenses. He'll figure something out. UF might overpower us, but I don't believe Meyer will out-coach Monte.

I think Monte can deal with a typical spread attack that Florida runs. The wild card is Tebow. Any play has first down potential when he is on the field. Scheme wise I think its even. It comes down to players making plays and recently they have had the players.

nope.

But, nothing is for sure till we all see together that day we all have marked on our calendars that seems like it will never get here, 09/19/09. I honestly don't see anyone stoppin our O this year but us. But, you guys had great talent on your D last year and to say you have a proven D coach would be an understatement; so you guys have a better chance than most. We shall see... We shall see...

Its hard to immagine that CMK has not seen it all. The old been there and done that and got the T shirt will apply. CMK will have all the tricks up his sleeve.

Monte's D is actually set up very well for the spread. It is based on a lot of speed, and hitting gaps. Where he has had problems is with teams that line up and pound the football. That's not a scheme thing though. That's a problem with the players in the scheme. Unfortunately, you give up size for speed in most occasions. Teams that will be bigger up front will be the hardest for us to stop.

I honestly don't know but I suspect CMK has the experience to adapt.

IMO, the most helpful differences between his D and Chavis' are their philosophies and playcalling. Both emphasize speed over size... leaving him the right material hopefully. However, Berry's comments confirmed something I suspected and hoped for. CMK will emphasize assignment and execution over "scheming". Berry talked about how they had to think less leaving them free to just make plays. I think that should work better against UF's O.

I think CMK will also approach UF with more risk taking in the way he calls the game. I think there's a good chance he'll sell out to make Tebow run laterally. There's a risk that their speedsters hurt you on the outside but you can't let Tebow kill you from tackle to tackle. I think he'll also try to force Tebow to throw passes he doesn't like to throw... things requiring alot of touch. Again, you risk letting them hit those big plays down the sideline but you take away Tebow's best asset- drilling the ball in.

It remains to be seen but I am a million times more confident than I was with Chavis around.

BTW, as good as Meyer is, I don't think he's at MK's level when it comes to film study and gameplanning... but that's not a particular knock since virtually no one is.

It might work so hot this year. It may take him a bit to ajust back to college and the experience against Meyer. Then again Im a stupid idiot lol.

Just remember, CUM doesn't have Percy Harvin this year. I like our odds.

On paper, Florida should beat us pretty soundly. However, that is why the game is played. I cannot wait to see this match up.

No Harvin

and our defense doesnt have 3 future hall of fame'rs. Plus, i dont think Monte has seen a three ring circus offense like Urban's. I would love nothing more than to shutdown that smoke screen offense but patience young jedi. Patience.

Must crawl before we walk.

Not only do I believe in Monte's schemes and game planning, but I also believe in the athletes that this staff is going to bring in to execute the plan.

Give me a break. It is not like CUMs O is better than the NFL Os he faced week-in and week-out. The key will not be the scheme; but the athletes.

I think the biggest key will be can our offense put drives together rather than going 3 and out each time. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the D. That being said, I believe our D will fare well against the gators, because our O will not have them out there for 75% of the game.

are we talking about the same seasoned Gator defense with 11 hungry players aching to tee off on someone? Whew. Tall order for next year against the defending NC.

Then again, we love to be the underdog. GO VOLS!

Herban Meyer is overrated PERIOD! 90% of this board could coach UF with its current talent and look like a genious!
