Do You Approve Of A Pruitt Hire?

Phil let us down, this guy MAY turn out to be a good HC.. maybe.. but he certainly isn't the hire that shows respect to, or the hire that instantly energizes the fan base at all. He's not simply a Saban disciple thats bounced around multiple places. He was born and raised in Alabama and has lived and breathed Alabama football from birth. Personally I at least expected someone I could get behind whole heartedly from the start. Someone that felt like our guy not Alabama's guy coaching our team. With Gruden,Kiffin,Leach, and Tee all wanting to come here and Coach, I again feel wronged and I'm dissapointed. I feel like the administration didn't give it's all for Tennessee and yet again we're supposed to trust more non-sensical projections from know it all higher-ups that Dooley and Butch up everything. Winning cures all I suppose but until it happens.. this administration hasn't proven they care about us fans in the slightest. Thanks a lot for sweeping in and saving us from Mike Leach Phil- seriously couldn't have done it without you. Rammer jam..I mean Go Vols yay

I will get behind him just like I did with Dooley, and Butch. I am on board until he proves he is a dumb A** just like the last two did. So I will give him a fair shake. I do think he will be much better.

Agreed. Thanks for saving my thumbs. GO VOLS

What matters is, are the players happy with the hire. Will the hire return recruits who fled? Will recruits WANT to play for our HC? This is what will make or break our team and program. Not fan speculation, opinion polls, or even whether fans will foresake Hot Diggity Dogs for Dogs -n- Suds in Ohio. It's about the players. If they don't buy into the HC it doesn't matter what fans think. And less you forget, our 2017 players played hard even when they knew the season was a lost cause. Surely Phil spoke with players about his HC options and listen to them.

And I tell, our 2017 players had to wonder about the frequency and number of injures so many endured. But they trotted out there and gave their all just the same. They must have believed in something to do that. So a HC they believe in will just be extra fuel for them. Might be time for fans to back off and let the players' games speak for themselves. And appreciate we have a HC now. Don't give the media, rivals, and others a reason to keep laughing at us. Back off.

I think your wrong, the way the team played their last games. It looked like they didn't give a crap. They played like they did give up.

Last game vs. how many others before that? Do you also disagree with my contention the coaching hire is about the players instead of self-proclaimed expert fans?

This is a fantastic hire. Pruitt has worked his way up the ladder by proving himself consistently at some of the best programs in the country. He's a winner. He develops players. He's competitive as hell. He's a great recruiter. Love this move!

Pruitt is an excellent choice in my opinion. Regardless, I’m always supportive of my university, my team, my coach. I understand the X-BOX generation doesn’t approve because they feel he should be some glamorous seasoned HC. These things will cone later in life for them as they get out and get real jobs and see how the world works.

As far as raw coaching ability and recruiting, I think he's solid. My biggest concern is, dude is pretty entrenched in all things Alabama. He spent most of his career there, going through the ranks from high school up through college. Only break is when he set out to be a coordinator before returning home to be a coordinator. Saban, contrary to popular belief, is mortal and will be retiring in the next decade or so, and this guy is only 44. Just not too keen on having someone dump UT for their "dream job" again, and this guy appears to be pretty infused with crimson blood.

Edit: I'm too new and casual of a fan to really have any stock in the whole Alabama vs UT rivalry too. But it just seems to have some red flags in that area to me.

I don't think there's anyone we could bring in that would be able to compete with Saban, even for the big bucks. It's time to get lean and a bit humble. Seems like a quality guy with a lot of upside potential.

I kept hearing coaches and sports people come to UT the past two years and come away saying we were "soft". I didn't want to believe them. I do believe there are some men on our football team but, I am truly looking forward to Jeremy Pruitt bringing a culture of hard work, spit, and grit to this program. Going through our practice videos, I can see where the soft comes from. We need to marine up out there on the practice field. Pruitt can do it!

I'm reserving judgement. I don't by any means think this is a home run hire, we suffered through all this for an assistant coach that won't be on board possibly until the second week of January? LOL Way to go Fulmer, you did exactly what I expected you to do.

yes. people have short memories. acting like the last two weeks didn't happen doesn't mean they didn't. prior to the last two weeks i was dead set against a Miles, Brohm or Pruitt type hire.

and i'll say now what i said about the possiblity of getting Brohm last week....

all things considered, we just fell azz backwards in to a field of daisies.

I'm at "meh" with this hire. Fool me once (Dooley), shame on you. Fool me twice (Jones), shame on me. I won't get fooled a third time. However, I certainly hope it works out.

The level of sunshine pumping, though, is quite hilarious -- and sad at the same time. You'd think we just hired the next coming of *insert name here*. Battered Vol Syndrome is a real thing.

I would love the hire if he wasnt continuing to coach Bama through the playoffs. That ticks me off... He is putting us in the backseat for a rival. Dont want...

Dabo Sweeney will go to Alabama most likely unless Saban is there for another 5 or 6 years. If they win this year, good chance he is gone.
