DO ya find it strange???

I'm sorry........I don't buy this about CDD not communicating. How long does it take to give a short phone interview? You can do it on the way to the airport if need be. Yes, he's been very busy, yes, he has a lot on his plate, but public relations is part of the job. He knew that from his years his dad spent with UGA. I like CDD, just not his silence.

Talk is cheap. Silence in golden.

Results are way more important than rambling on the radio. I figure in due time, we'll hear from Coach Dooley.

Personally, I like the fact that he is all about business right now. Not that he had much choice. I think it's silly to expect him to be interviewing and such. And from some of the stuff I have read....things get leaked too much and then you have this rumor frenzy that takes place. UT has been wise is shutting down on the press for this reason alone (E.g. Rumors about coaches and the ensuing perception).

Do you kind of find it strage we really have NO clue who our football coach is... I know he is bustin asss on the trail but at the same time he hasint said a word to the knoxville press even....im just sayin, dont blast me but ......wondering if anyone was kinda wondering......

You must be younger than 30, right? You're still putting faith and credence in what a guy says. That's why Obama got a disproportionate % of the young vote... what he says sounds good- the actions, not so much. Kiffin said all the right things. Obviously that had both positive and negative results... ultimately very negative.
All we know of his actions are that UT was more competitive against UF and Bama. However he still only won 7 games and got blown out by teams with less talent than UF and Bama.

If you want to know who Dooley is, don't wait on a speech. Look at what he's done and what he's doing. Look at how he's prioritized since being hired.

Here's my read:

He has a passion for football. He probably could have become just as wealthy with more certainty as a lawyer but chose football instead.

He has as much energy as Kiffin without the blather or need to point it out to everyone. The guy has been the Energizer Bunny in recruiting since he hit the ground running.

He's very, very intelligent.

He has a lawyer's trait of being very persuasive. It looks like he's applied that with recruits. He's presenting his case and so far it seems he's convincing people.

Good lawyers can also win cases by simply making the jury like them. Repeatedly recruits and their families talk about him being a good guy who knows where he's taking the program. I saw one quote where someone alluded to the idea that Dooley was like Saban but with a better personality. We're once again hearing recruits speak about a "family" atmosphere at UT. That's one thing CLK didn't appreciate that Fulmer did and apparently DD does... When you ask a kid to move 1000 miles from their family and everyone they know, you best make them feel like they're joining a new family.

The guy seems to have genuinely good character. As a lawyer, he could probably sell himself that way even if he didn't... but eventually people would see through it. But he seems to have a solid set of values that he operates by.

He seems to have charisma. It seems people are drawn to him rather than pulled to him. It is a subtle difference between Dooley and Kiffin but an important one.

You know, we gave so much credit to the doofus last year for pulling a top 10 class with so little time. His strategy was bang anything that makes noise to bring attention. CDD comes in with less than three weeks and looks to have a better class and hasn't made a peep. I'll like his strategy better!

I find it more strange that Reeves was left behind while his brother and father in law went to USC. We think we got screwed. This is a family business for them. Unbelievable. Problem is that he wants to coach but nobody wants him. I hope that we have him buried in mundane paperwork at the bottom of the Neyland Stadium.

All I need to hear from him is in the recruiting rankings, we are up to seventh. Anything more is a waste of time.

+1.

If the recruits like what he has to say, then I'm not at all concerned with his lack of communicating with the media. His body of work is speaking for him and I think that's exactly the way he wants it. & the way I want it too! :clapping:

What would he say in an interview? He cannot tell you the names of the kids he is recruiting. He will not tell you the names of the coaches he has contacted or signed for any open positions. What else is important right now? I believe we have a coach that puts what's best for UT before getting his name in the spotlight. Unlike our previous whatever he was, DD has class and the world is not about him but about UT football...

UT probably would have finished with a top 10 class last year anyway. Clawson and his guys were well on their way. Kiffin's significant additions were obviously Brown, Nuke, and Teague. OTOH, he lost Stokes, a couple of OL's, Thigpen, Giles, and apparently killed UT's chances with Marlon Brown.

I'd rather that phone call be to a recruit, or a dc. What's hecgoing to talk about in an interview? Can't talk about recruits. What does he say, "go vols"? Look at the recruits committing and hear him say clearly what he is doing.

Maybe the press can`t catch up to him. They have been getting kinda fat lately with all the news falling in their laps.

Losing those oline is looking more and more like a big misstep.

One of them might not have panned out anyway. Phillips didn't survive to see Sept at FSU. If I'm not mistaken, Foster (the 3*) got PT as a Freshman for GT.

OTOH, Clawson knew who he was getting in Phillips so he might have kept him on track.

Remember that he basically told the current team that even they will be on the back burner until NSD has passed. The timing of his hiring simply did not permit any other strategy.

Yea what I would rather have is my coach running his pie hole on national TV instead of sitting in some DB's living room. I mean hell who need a kid who's 6'0" 202 and runs a 4.4 40 when DD can be in Knoxville talking to Jimmy Hyams and John Adams about stuff that is way over their heads anyways

I am not familiar with all the ncaa rules, so I would say DD can't say much because there maybe one that limits the conversations with the media on recruits. I like DD, his family and the way he goes about things. We are lucky!!!

Go Vols!!!

Father-in-law? Is he gay? Kiffi-poo got a brother? Brother-in-law and no relation for Monte.

Is there anything people won't complain about? If I'm not mistaken, the local media was on Kiffin for not giving interviews this time last year.

And what could Dooley tell us right now? Is just hearing his voice going to reassure you that he is still the coach? Or that he is working? Not hearing his voice tells me he is working

He is doing his job!! Recruiting!! I give a d#@@ about pressers. Just recruit, win games and if I never see a blurb in the press I'll be happy.

I wonder about that. Dooley received the extra visits right?

Coaches can't make public comments about players they are recruiting. Yes, he got a waiver for more visits, that's what he did that first weekend he was here. It's why he didn't meet with the recruits that weekend
