Do we see a completely different team Saturday?

If we get ahead there is no excuse not to see CFA and QD or JG out getting meaningful reps. Lets lift the hood and see whats rumbling under there
We won't see JG get any snaps this season unless it is out of completed necessity.

In Butch's presser he said teams have been playing mostly cover 1, forcing them to beat them to the edge. I think with Hurd, we weren't able to do that successfully. When we fielded a backfield that could, we put up 700 yards of offense because they had to defend the edge. I sure hope so, at least. Lets finish strong, fellas.
I totally agree, Big. Not dissing Hurd's abilities as a RB, but the truth is he hasn't properly fit into this system and Alvin and Jelly are an absolutely devastating one-two punch for the very reason you poignantly brought up. I truly expect our O-line to look amazingly better due to the second guessing the D-line and LBs are going to require in order to double-check containment on those edges. Cover 1? Cover 2? Zone? Man? It'll be easier to fool them enough to bite off some really big run plays; plus it'll be easier to adjust to whatever schemes the D's running. I like this personnel for this system. AMIRIGHT? You are, Big.:salute:

I am betting that some very angry young men show up with a chip on their shoulders looking to silence doubters. I predict a solid performance all round for this game and the rest of the season for that matter.

I like your line of thinking!!

I'm not expecting anything different until I actually see it.

If Hurd was some type of cancer to the program and we just cut him out then we might see a whole different team.

We will look like world beaters against tech and all the ***** lovers will come on here and say how we are so much better without jalen.

We will then look like garbage the rest of the year but they will say nothing.

Kamara and kelly are awesome backs. They fit the scheme. Jalen was one player. Win or lose it won't be due to jaken being gone.

I think kelly will be a stud next year. Just wish Hurd had been put in a role better suited for his skill sets.

He wasn't a cancer. Half the team hates debord.

After all that has transpired since Saturdays debacle, will we see a different looking TN team vs Tenn Tech or will we see the same ol slow, boring, sluggish, sloppy and undisciplined football team we have become accustomed to seeing for 8 straight weeks??

I know its only lowly Tenn Tech, but will we come out looking sharp and firing on all cylinders? No excuse to not take care of business and whoop this cupcake opponent into oblivion. Butch needs to and BETTER have this team prepared. Another Appy St or Ohio U showing....he wont want to be in Knoxville Sunday.

this week is a throw away game, glad to play football and not have to deal with off field, but in no way does this team looking good Saturday reflect one way or the other. this is the game on the schedule where they can just show up.

Sadly, I think it is another nail biter. I think they squander the opportunity to jump on tech early, tech hangs around, gains some confidence and hits some trick plays. It will still be a game in the 4th q

We're playing Tennessee Tech, we're going to look like world beaters after this game. At least, we should.

Can't tell we're not playing anyone this week.. JV team could probably beat them. They do have a coordinator or two i've heard that are being looked at for bigger jobs, so they might out scheme us a little here and there. They just don't have the horses, this should be a route. Feels like i've said that all year and they end up down by two scores at half time. If they're down by two scores at half time to this team then go ahead and fire the whole damn staff.

If butch burns Jarretts redshirt this late in the season he should be fired immediately

This...no way should JG redshirt be burned. Not when we have QD and SJ on the sidelines. If CBJ burns JG redshirt this year and there is still another able-bodied QB on the roster, CBJ should be fired right there on the spot.

It will be very difficult to tell based on this game. If we were to somehow lose, that would tell us all we need to know, but that won't happen...it is Tech.

If we win, great...move on to the rest of SEC play and then we will see if this team has anything left.

Meanwhile in other news...

Polls show that the number 1 wish on Vols fans wish list is that the powers that be hurry up and hire the right AD to replace our retiring AD and that they make that great AD hire by the end of next week.

We now return you to todays episode of Vol Nation.

VFL...GBO!!!

I predict that there will be an emphasis put on the running game. In light of our little running back ..........drama........this week and the level of competition, I predict that we have someone with a 200yd+ day by themselves. possibly 2 guys.

Half the team didnt quit and act like a diva. Hurd was a cancer if the info we have been getting about him is true. Even if its not, he is a quitter and taking everything that has happened into account the last couple of days, one should be able to see that Hurd was not the same RB we were used to seeing.

I am certainly not betting that we see anything different than what we have seen all year. Uninspired, lethargic, sloppy, undisciplined first half play. Followed by better second half play. Tennessee wins but by no means is it a blowout. Tennessee tech makes it a nail biter.

We will see a different team? Doubt it.

We've seen nothing up to this point to suggest that we DON'T start slow and have trouble.

The fact that this team has put fans and pundits in a position to question the outcome of the next 4 games is pathetic.

UT is clearly the better team for the next 4 weeks. Whether they actually play like it remains to be seen.

Do we take care of business this weekend and get some subs in the game that haven't had any game action yet?
