How about using this weekend for the first round of a 8 team playoff. UCF is not helping my argument but their QB went out last week and he's good.

8 team playoff is a horrible idea. Because the format would be the Power 5 would get spots via conference champion, 1 group of 5 would get a spot, and 2 at large spots.

The group of 5 school would 99% be the 8 seed and would get demolished every year. To top it off, the head coach of that Group of 5 school likely bolts to a bigger job as said head coaches would be hot commodities and those head coaches would want to get to new gigs as soon as possible to get recruiting before December signing day.

So now you basically have a wasted game for nothing.

If any expansions occur, it should be a 6 team playoff with 1/2 getting a “bye.”

For the record, I’m fine with the 4 team spot.

I liked the BSC formula until they eliminated strength of schedule. Use that formula to determine the top 8 teams. I like the 6 team idea too. Separate the wheat from the chaff

Separating the wheat from the chaff is what the regular season is supposed to do.

Once they lost the QB they are not very effective. Their defense would get torched and drug up and down the field in a 12 game real league schedule too. It’s fun to watch a little of that stuff but I enjoy a good defensive game plan too.

The playoffs have been going on for the 12 previous weeks, imo.

If they really do change it to 8 teams I really hope they don't put the conference champions as AQ's, say someone like Northwestern or Pittsburgh pull off the upset while it would be cool for them they would in no way deserve to be in the playoffs.

These 2 teams are the best in the nation. Shame we're going to get Alabama Slammas to whoever is in their way here on out

I’d be okay if Jalen Hurts wants to grad transfer to Tennessee. He’s light years better than anyone we’ve got.

If things go the current Tennessee way. OSU will shut out Bama and the media will throw it our face. Idgaf. Bring on Freeze. Hugh's gonna look weak going to Bama. He should be dubbed the Saban killer and join CJP

NO. play a round robin type schedule and get rid of the 2nd patsy game.
OR... get rid of the permanent West opponent and rotate all of them.

The loss of their QB has nothing to do with giving up 300 yards rushing and 38 points by halftime to Memphis. If this was Georgia or bama those numbers would be doubled. Ucf vs Bama final would be UCF 7 to Bama 55.
