Do we have the talent to be a top 5 team?

With the talent we have could this team be made into a top 5 team? If CPF fixed
1. playcalling
2. motivation issues
3. worked hard on the D and O line.
4. and many more issues

Do we have the players to be a top 5 team?

Nope . . . We don't have top 5 talent at the line of scrimmage and that's where it begins and ends.

Agree with GA. Offensive line needs vast improvement and we need some pass rushers in the worst way.

right now, no. GA and OWH are correct. we're not deep enough and the line of scrimmage is where we're deficient. take a look at the top teams O lines and D lines...and look at ours. big differences there. you don't have to have a Tim Tebow or DeSean Jackson or Percy Harvin alone to make a top 5 program.

and we know this. go look back at our previous O lines and D lines from our run in the 90's....that was talent.

I'm not trying to push this, but all along what has been written around here is that we lack the size on D-Line to dominate. Have they grown, or were we mistaken. There is an undercurrent in what you say that suggests coaching would make the same guys everyone has disparaged since before spring ball into a top 5 caliber line. Not sure I can agree with that.

By the way, I have written before that I think the D-Line has been a bright spot given what they are doing with what they have. But I still don't think these guys would be called BigDogs....

question, how many of our current starting 4 on the D line do you think would be starting for LSU this year?

I am not necessarily saying coaching would make them better, perhaps they just aren't that talented. They have time left to prove that wrong.

I don't know who has said "undersized" is the problem? Bolden and Williams are 6'6", 6'3" and 290 and 305 respectively.

Darwin Walker and Haynesworth are 6'3", 6'6" and 294 and 320. Not that much of a difference to me.

Well, you know, I say that. But I have to confess I don't really know. Not like I'm any sort of expert on it. What I can say is that you looked a lot slower than us, out of shape, and just plain not as athletic as the Gators. And the difference wasn't close. It was big, especially in terms of your defense versus our WRs.

That Florida's WRS were faster was not necessarily totally unexpected, though the degree of difference was surprising. What really surprised me was Florida's defensive line and secondary able to completely shut down the UT running game. I didn't see that as much the RB's fault, more the UT offensive line not being able to deal with Florida's speed and strength.

Spurrier used to comment all the time that he had no trouble selling the skill players on coming to Florida so as to display their abilities to NFL scouts. It was the linemen that were the key and he had to work hard to convince them that, notwithstanding the fact that his system was not exactly comparable to NFL playbooks, he could turn them into pros.

My suspicion is that UT has no problem convincing some stout RBs to come to school there. But I would have thought as well that the offensive line players in particular would be higher caliber precisely because UT's offense is much more similar to an NFL scheme than has been Florida's.

NO. I dont understand how we keep having such high ranked recruiting classes, yet no talent on the field.

Go back and re-read previous posts and thread's. The reason there is no talent on the field starts with a C and ends in oaching.

No, not even close. For example, USC and Oklahoma each have at least 3 tailbacks better than anyone on our roster.

Boise St hasn't had a top 50 recruiting class, probably ever, and they are ranked ahead of UT. What does that tell you though?
