It was fairly obvious that Crompton wasn't as prepared as we thought. But do we have anyone who is and could step in?

Apparently not. For a team known to have alot of talent. We seem to be void of it at alot of key spots. Average players and a average coach=vandy.

I still LMAO @ all of you who said "Thank God Ainge is gone" Maybe now you people will have a greater appreciation for how much Erik Ainge really meant to our team

Did you ever see Ainge play? Particularly in the state of California. Or any big game really?

Nope...unless you want to take the cut our losses and build up a FR/soph QB for his senior year, but that's essentially like just running a g-gun every play; you wont win with it

Ainge was a good QB, imagine what he could have been with some real coaching.

yes, and Ainge was a good QB. did a better job than you all give him credit for. he had a better game in the state of California than Crompton did

he really was taken for granted. the offense tonight made ainge's offense look peyton manning like. not even in the same league.

it crossed my mind several times what the game would have been like had we still had him.

it doesn't matter who you have back there if the package isn't utilized properly. the sweeps with jones got VERY predictable fast. we need to run more plays out of it. the handoff to foster from the g-gun tonight was great.

Ainge just didn't seem to give a rip whether we won or not. He was emotionless. I liked seeing Crompton face down after the game. The kid has a ton of heart whether he played well tonight or not. Give the kid the respect he deserves...he is a human being not some programmable robot.

I liked ainge also.

but why did we not put berry back at qb?

I was wondering that too. But we've been through this before. (Quarterbacks with bad aim) Why didn't we RUN the ball? The run was working. I really hope this is not a sign of things to come with Crompton. He started looking better at the end of the 4th. I'm sure he'll get more comfortable and find a rythm. Is he calling plays Peyton style, or do we put this on Clawson?

If Ainge had been the QB tonight, that game wouldn't have been close.

I was as glad as anybody (except for TVA) to see the end of the Ainge era when I was stomping out of the GA Dome last December, but I really had no inkling how bad Crompton could be. He was awful.

Well, Ill say ainge would have wond b 10-13 pts in this new offense (2-3 tds in cut's) just mainly b/c i'm still baffled at what in the world we're doing and why we're expecting it to be effective....i'm not even sure how much of it he would have understood

For whatever reason, the coaching staff has a hard time instilling confidence in young QB's. Look at Ainge in 05.

They were fine with Ainge in '05 until they allowed him to be broken at the the end of the 1st half against ND. He was never the same QB after that.

Lets not make Ainge out to be a god here (remember the no look pass out of his own endzone at LSU a few yrs ago). He threw off his back foot and would never take a hit. Yes he would've done better tonight but how can you ask basically a rookie qb to throw 41 times in the season opener at the rose bowl (esp when you're averaging 6 yards a carry).
