I think it sets up well for us. We have the more experienced quarterback and its the other guy's first sec regular season start. We are playing at home and have a chance to show a lot of unscouted looks for that game. I'm worried about the injuries and depths on defense, but if that side can get a little healthier before the Georgia game we should have a good shot at it.

Georgia will not be tested at all before coming to Knoxville so it's a huge question mark how they will perform against us in Neyland this year with a new QB.

Tennessee absolutely has a chance to beat ANY team in Knoxville. we have beaten Bama and Florida there, it's high time we beat Georgia there too.

I would be happy to lose to Alabama if we beat both Georgia and Florida this year. we really need the win over Georgia more than the win over Bama.

I agree Georgia roster is loaded.. it been loaded since Kirby became HC....
I disagree that Kirby is best coach in country 5* roster helps a coach look great....
Who is better right now though? He inherited a ton of talent from Richt, and harnessed the sleeping giant that UGA was prior to his arrival. Clearly he has kept the winning machine going too.

The only other coaches in his tier are Day and Sweeney. Day is good but the same statement can be made about having 5* talent and a built in advantage compared to other schools, and he has a Michigan problem. Sweeney is a borderline has-been now.

Not trying to be the wet towel, but even with their new QB, Georgia just outclasses us across the field.

On offense: they have an experienced and healthy OL and good weapons to get the ball to at RB, TE, and WR. Kirby is also the best coach in the country right now. Stockton doesn't have to play his best game to beat us, because he is surrounded by talent.

On defense: its a Kirby Smart led team. They have studs everywhere. They are smart. They prep and know how to beat our pace and space offense, like they have the last 4 years.

TheFilmGuy on Youtube (a Georgia homer, keep in mind) has said it best: teams simply do not beat Kirby by out scheming him. You have to have the jimmies and joes along with the X's and O's. This is why I doubt Heupel will beat him. Until we are within spitting distance talent wise, we will struggle. Their roster is LOADED with talent. Georgia is going to be a contender this year.
Georgia will lose at least 2 games this year, the first of which will be in Knoxville............

Always a shot but we have to be better along the LOS and at WR. Too many big runs allowed, too many dropped passes. It will take everyone playing a great game to win versus them and we’re already thin at some places

The way you ask the question "do we have a realistic chance" my answer is yes. Can we actually win the game, probably not. As other posters have pointed out GA still has more talent and Kirby. Winning in Neyland has not been a problem for Kirby. Hope to be wrong.

No one will know how good UGA is this year until they play UT. They beat Marshall but is that a product of them being good or Marshall being typical mid major? They play Austin Peay this week which doesn't show anything.

There's really just nothing to say UT has no chance or what a reasonable probability for a win would be.

You think wayyyy to highly of Kirby.

90% of the time he brings a machine gun to a knife fight, that’s why he has the record he does. When the talent is close to equal, he almost always loses.

In 2016 before he had time to start “under the table’ing” all of the 5* recruits in the country, he was 8-5 with losses to Butch, Derek Mason, and an obliteration by Hugh Freeze.

He’s not that good of a coach, he just lives in a recruiting hot bed and started paying them early.

I felt a lot more confident before all of the injuries we suffered Saturday. Interior DL and secondary all banged up.
On OL, hope we have a healthy Moi and Sanders back.

That was his first year lol. Since then, he has won 2 Nattys and 3 SEC championships. The guy is 106-19 overall at Georgia.

Also, a big part of coaching in college is recruiting, which he has been very successful at. I get that he has a wealth of talent at his doorstep in Georgia, but you have to admit he is statistically the best coach in the country right now.

If he was coaching here and we had that level of success, you would be arguing he would be the best. I get the hatred of the program, as I dislike Georgia just as much as the next guy, but it is silly to argue against him being the top coach in the country right now.

Top? Sure.

But best? No.

He beat Ohio State once because they missed the game winning field goal, and he split Alabama once. Those are the only 2 times when he won a game where the talent was equal. Literally every other time, he has lost when the talent was equal or similar.

If Heup and Kirby were squaring off with equal talent on both sides of the field, my money is on Heup all day long.

The Georgia game has a feel akin to playing Florida in the '90s. Whoever wins has a direct path to the championship. Although we played well in week one, I'm concerned about the injuries and the depth. The guys that had to step up did a great job on Saturday, but we can't afford to lose any of those guys. I think we win the game if we are healthy come game time.

I like our chances if UGA doesn't run wild on our defense. Banks is going to have to make Stockton beat us throwing the football.
