Do you think this is the year we beat Georgia? A win sets us up to roll into Tuscaloosa undefeated and controlling our own destiny in the SEC championship race. And obviously this is the only other losing streak Heupel hasn’t ended yet so yea a win would be massive for him the team and us fans . Unfortunately i’m just not that confident we can pull it off with the injuries we are already having on the defense. And Kirby just really gets his team motivated for Tennessee it seems maybe cause he never beat us as a player at georgia i dunno. I think much like 2022 we will have to outscore our opponents but we haven’t scored more than 17 points against Georgia under Heupel. A loss isn’t the end of the world we know from last season that going 10-2 in the SEC will get you in the playoff but man it would be nice to beat those leg humpers and shut there arrogant fans up for a change.
I'll give you four names. Spillman, A Carter, B Carter, McMurray. These guys will be bringing the extra heat. If they have good games, we win.

I don’t believe this. Watch the Tech game vs Georgia last year and tell me Tech didn’t have a chance to win. All tech had was transcendent QB play and they were within spitting distance of knocking them off but didn’t have a defense to match. If Joey brings his A game we have enough weapons to beat them on both sides of the ball. With the help of Neyland, I like our chances.
I never said Tech didn't have a chance to win. Tech schemed a great game against UGA, limiting the reliable TE outlets that Beck needed to beat us. They forced UGA to either run the ball, or attempt long throws, which Beck was inaccurate on. They did a better job than us at locking down the intermediate throws. It was either boom or bust for UGA, which they ended up busting hard on.

i’m not sold on Gunner yet.
I didn't watch their game, but I was surprised to see the amount of rushing attempts he had against Marshall (10). You wouldn't think, playing against an inferior team, that the QB would have to take off as much. I'm assuming not all of them were designed runs. That tells me he isn't feeling super confident in the pocket.

I answered yes.
We've witnessed CJH teams win games they aren't supposed to. UGA is the more talented team, no doubt. Kirby is an excellent coach...best in the SEC hands down. So, I guess it comes down to where does "realistic" start. If that starts at 50% chance or better, we will have to play incredibly well and they will have to play short of their potential.

They won the SEC championship last year, and who knows how they would have faired against ND with Beck (who just beat ND this weekend lol).

They are still close to their peak. I do think NIL and the portal have made other teams more competitive, but as long as Smart is there with an embarrassment of riches roster, then they will be contenders.
I'm only about 20 miles from Athens. Close enough to see the cracks in the foundation and hear the creaks of instability. Smart does not have Saban's ability to establish and maintain a positive culture of success.
The culture at uga is becoming increasingly toxic.
Pretty sure UNC had more "stars" on their roster plus what most would consider a better coach than TCU.

Absolutely! But on the same hand we can’t take the Mississippi State and Arkansas of the world lightly. The SEC has proven time and again you can’t take anybody for granted on any given Saturday. Having said that I feel good about our chances against Georgia! GBO!!!!

I hope Heupel has schemed some different wrinkles on offense as it seems that Georgia always has an answer for what we typically do.

I am not confident of a win, but I think this is as good a chance we’ve had in a while. I think getting UGA early in the season at home will be a tremendous benefit, as they always seem to get better as the year goes on but start off slow (like against Kentucky last season).

We also have the benefit of having played a decent opponent thus far this year. We controlled the Syracuse game and it was never really in doubt. Georgia beat a Marshall team that lost 25 players to the transfer portal this offseason. They also play Austin Peay next. Both of us have tune-up games this week, but at least we’ve played someone with a pulse.

Hopefully a combo of the early-season home game at Neyland with a better-tested squad will be the situation we need to beat the ‘Dawgs.

I agree that rivalry games are different but that also implies the Tennessee UGA game is not a rivalry?

It’s Funny to me that all the same reasons I read here for why UT is not beating UGA were said before the TSIO in 2022.

I believe there is a real chance here but UT cannot shoot themselves, need to play well on both sides of the ball, crowd has to bring it and the refs have to give UGA no gifts.

That was the TSIO 22 recipe.

We took my son to their spring game, and he didn't look too accurate. Some bad passes and a pick.
Stockton loves to run. If we can keep him pinned up and force him to beat us with his arm, we have a good shot at winning. If he doesn’t learn to be a bit more judicious and not act like he’s a fullback, he’s going to get hurt.

Not trying to be the wet towel, but even with their new QB, Georgia just outclasses us across the field.

On offense: they have an experienced and healthy OL and good weapons to get the ball to at RB, TE, and WR. Kirby is also the best coach in the country right now. Stockton doesn't have to play his best game to beat us, because he is surrounded by talent.

On defense: its a Kirby Smart led team. They have studs everywhere. They are smart. They prep and know how to beat our pace and space offense, like they have the last 4 years.

TheFilmGuy on Youtube (a Georgia homer, keep in mind) has said it best: teams simply do not beat Kirby by out scheming him. You have to have the jimmies and joes along with the X's and O's. This is why I doubt Heupel will beat him. Until we are within spitting distance talent wise, we will struggle. Their roster is LOADED with talent. Georgia is going to be a contender this year.
So is Alabamas. The other thing to note is that 54% of Georgias roster is first or second year players this year. The most they’ve ever had since KS has been there iirc. We have lots of youth as well but we are experienced at a lot of key positions. I’m not saying we win but I think if there’s ever a time to do it, why not now? We have a qb that has a chip on his shoulder. And we finally have a defense that can hold their own against SEC talent.

I agree Georgia roster is loaded.. it been loaded since Kirby became HC....
I disagree that Kirby is best coach in country 5* roster helps a coach look great....

In order to have a realistic chance, unfortunately I think it will take UGA playing something not particularly close to their best game. Kirby's teams have a tendency to sleepwalk in certain games, especially early in the game, but he won't let them do that against us in Neyland.

Does anyone remember how GA Tech outplayed uga at the end of the season last year?
Tech played a heck of a game and had lots of big plays break their way—all credit to Tech, but it’s not a replicable path to success to get multiple big plays from runs where guys are wrapped up in a gang tackle and end up escaping. By the same token, getting a turnover to draw level for 8 overtimes was also lucky as hell for my dawgs.

Buster Faulkner is a running game savant and Haynes King runs that game to perfection. Tech has given us fits as long as Faulkner has been there. He doesn’t make acres of space, but he always seems to get plays where our guys are just a half step out of position and have to rely on arm tackles.

Does Tennessee have a chance? Hell yeah it does. Can it force Stockton to stay in the pocket and win with his arm? Can it win on running downs? Or, forgetting all that, can it connect on shot plays enough to force UGA to chase the game?

Kirby always plays a light box against Tennessee, counting on being able to stop the run enough with 1 or sometimes 2 fewer guys in the box than Tennessee has initially. If that works, UGA should expect to win, as I don’t expect Aguilar to convert enough throws against double coverage to win. But I’m not sure UGA has the same guys on the DL this year, so it will be a thing to watch.

I thought yall looked good in what I saw on Saturday. It will be a war.

2 offensive things to win.

We have to average close to 4.5-5 yards a carry. We have to get them to bring an extra guy.

Hit a deep ball. Have we hit a deep ball vs UGA since CJH has been here? I don’t remember one. We have to make a downfield throw.
