Well, we got Orgeron, lost on Garner, Do we go after blake now?

I know kiffin has a plan and the Garner talks have been going on for a little while before we heard. But who do you all think we go after next? Croom, Gonzales, Norton Jr ...........

I think we may contact Blake...but I think it would be very unlikely he comes to Knoxville.

Gonzales will probably be the next big target to interview after the NC game...

Maybe all three at the same time...I don't know about KNjr. though. I just wish this would be over already...I'm not sleeping much at the moment.

I know he goes way back with Butch Davis but it is hard for me to think UNC would put up the kind of money UT would for him if we wanted him. I know he was a HC but was he ever a DC anywhere? Oklahoma?

Why would Gonzales come to UT? We've got the same problem with him that we had with Garner: He's at a great program now, and I can't see Kiffin offering him anything that he doesn't already have--or will get--at florida. I do love the fact that Kiffin is AMBITIOUS--the guy aims high. Such a nice thing to see after Fulmer, who was not aggressive and seemed not too care too much about getting the best coaches.

No just a DL coach, and LB coach... never a coordinator.

We have slim to no chance to land Gonzo. I'd like to see Norton Jr. , but that seems like a pipe dream

Norton has already said he's not going anywhere IIRC.

I could see us getting Gonzo if we offer him around 400 or 500k a year. Isn't he just making like 250 now?

I have always wondered the same thing, but I was afraid to ask.. I was afraid the Kiffin "Hall Monitors" would come after me thinking it was a negative comment toward Kiff.. I do love the way Kiffin is getting after it though.. He is relentless when it comes to recruiting coaches, you know he is the same way when it comes to recruits.. I would love to be a fly on wall in a recruits house when Lane, Monte and coach O are talking to the recruit and parents.... How could you say no... :)

I just can't picture Gonzo coming here.

I think the only way we get him is if the reports mentioned about him being unhappy in UF are true.

Plus CLK has had him as a target, and will probably go to great lengths to bring him up here.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is Blake?

John Blake...

Former HC at Oklahoma (worst HC in history of CF)
Currently DL coach at UNC.

Has coached at OU, UNC, Nebraska, Miss. State, Cowboys, and Tulsa IIRC

Interesting that LK wanted RG on offense----that tells me that Monte and Lane already have their defensive staff pretty well set. We only know of Ed O as of now, but we will have two more assistant coaches on D-----DB and LB. Other than Jimmy Lake/Darren Perry for DB, its been curiously quiet for the LB position. Monte will be a walk around DC, so we still have two spots open on D. Croom could fill one as LB coach, but we may want him as RB coach/coordinator.
On offense, Gonzo would be a good fit for WR and ST coach, and we will not fill that spot till he turns us down which will be friday at the earliest.

Ok. It just sounded bad how you put it.

I hope he doesn't list it like that on his resume.

Blake could be the best recruiter in College Football at the moment. Including Rodney Garner. I would think there would at least have been a call to see if he would have been interested.

Either way I look for at least one more big time hire from Coach Kiffin. He really is swinging for the fences. And it's about time. UT is one of the winningest programs in College Football. There is more respect for this program than alot of people (media, other programs) like to think.
