Do we ever use our TE's?

They're barely serviceable. Branisel might end up being pretty good

Serviceable is more than generous. Not trying to belittle Downs or Branisel. Just commenting on their performance to date and their physical limitations. Can't wait to get Helm and Wolf in here stat.

I was wondering the same thing.

500th post!

...anticlimactic for post 500 hundred. Oh well.

It has been evident by what CBJ hasn't said that the tight ends are not performing to SEC standards. In his last interview he alludes to lack of blocking and missed assignments. He doesn't call players out but if you watched the game for the second time it was clear the TE's did not have anything close to an acceptable game. They had more whiff's than my granddaughter trying to hit her golf ball.

Injury update:

• Out: QB Justin Worley, TE Alex Ellis, TE Joseph Ayres, WR Ryan Jenkins, DT Allan Carson

• Non-contact jersey: TE A.J. Branisel, S Brian Randolph, WR Pig Howard

With the loss of Meredith and Clear and what I see above is the real issue with TE, I also think B. downs hasn't been healthy since day 1, W. Quinn learning curve. I look to see Croom playing more of a TE in the passing and Downs on running plays, although he misses blocks all of the time.

On a side note that's why Tiny has been moved on the right side because lack of blocks.

I think I've only seen 3 maybe 4 plays where our TE got the ball.

Are we just that FOCUSED on the run?

There are three Tight Ends on the roster that come to mind and there are two more that are scheduled to sign on National Signing Day.

So, one would think that they would be used in the offense, but they aren't being used.

Downs & Braise have played some but Woody, a converted volleyball player has trouble making the transition to football.

So, next season we will have 5 Tight Ends. I guess since they see little action, they can all play on special teams.

Imagine him trying to block Clowney or Sam...no good.

Last year, Rivera was not assigned to block Clowney. It was Tiny's assignment. Hence the big rematch this year. TE should not have been matched up against Clowney or Sams. Not a good scheme. Shouldn't be asking our TE do do something that our NFL tight end from last year couldn't do, so that he can get bashed on these boards. Kid's given one knee and is out there ready to give up the other one for the team. Maybe he lost his footing against Missouri, but knee brace may be hard to run with. Cut him a freakjng break.

need better tight ends.. that is the problem

AJ BRANISEL has great hands and is a great blocker. We need to get this guy in the game plan more and open up the offence. We seem to running the same 6 plays every time we get to the line. The TE's are being used as blockers and getting nothing else. Now that would piss me off if I was a TE.:whistling:
