Do the Vols have a leader?

In order to keep A to Z Nashville from getting clicks they don't deserve...

The article is talking about Velus Jones. He has stepped up and the staff said they can lean on him.

Dont read their garbage. It's the lowest form of "journalism"

Velus showed leadership skills last year. Good to see him continuing this season; we'll need his voice.

As for this source being the lowest form of journalism, you'll have to make it second-lowest. We have Caleb Calhoun, after all. :)

Shouldn’t the QB have that initiative?

I think once they figure out the starter, then yes. Right now, its good to see someone stepping up. There were some quotes by him after the first practice how he and a few other WRs were putting in extra work and how he was taking the younger WRs under his wing. You have to assume the extra work is the WRs and QBs in this case. Hooker is his roommate, so assume at least he is putting in extra time too.

If it's Hooker who wins the starting job, then he would be an obvious candidate to lead the offense. No way to know if he has the personality to live up to the job, but being older and more experienced would give him a leg up, IMO.

It's hard to have a leader that hasn't performed on the field. You can lead practice habits and off the field habits but if you haven't or do not perform on the field no one will follow.
You're 100% correct. We lack a lot on both sides of the ball but what we lack most is a Alpha male on offense. Hopefully one emerges. I have a friend who's son played with Juan Jennings. When he signed he told me not to expect much that he was overrated. His knock was Juan goes down easy... He really missed the mark on that one. Didn't take long for him to own up to being wrong. You never know who will float to the top.
