I do feel like we have a candidate who is still coaching at this time.... will be announced as soon as the game is over.... probably Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

I'm sure Coach Pruitt is working very hard on securing what HE WANTS-and WHAT WILL MAKE THIS TEAM MORE COMPETITIVE. It has been amazing how many candidates out their that our local Volunteer internet athletics drama kings have informed us that many of these coaches have been targets of the UT search but have gone elsewhere. IF Coach Priutt continues on this drawn out process in making a good hire that helps turn the direction of UT's offense in the right direction he will look like Job makes a hire after spending this much time and goes in the same direction that Coach Fulmer made with Coach Clawson -well we all know what happens there . Its on him and only him-let it happen let him own it because it appears that's what he wants ownership of the program

I really don't know what to think. I find it hard to believe that Pruitt has his guy and he's just waiting, for whatever reason(s) to make it official. I also don't think he's had a plan all along to promote someone already on staff.

But, wtf do I know? I can wait as long as it takes, but I am looking forward to finding out who it's gonna be and hopefully we get some info on why it went the way it did. Not that it matters, but I'm just curious.

Yeah man, it's been a done deal for weeks, the UT AD is just holding off telling everyone so that we can parachute him in during the CFB championship.
He'll land in the middle of the field during the cointoss wearing nothing but speeds with a coon-skin cap and an orange cape with the power T, and announce his arrival with a Rick Flair "WOOOOO"!

Book it, check my stats brah.
Add a Gaulden Salute to Bama fans and it would be about perfect.

Yurcich didn't Kiffin us. We waited too long. I am sure Pruitt has been too busy recruiting, he will get a OC but after what he seen for a year he knows he has to get alot better football players in here. Let the man do his job people.
1.I didn't question Pruitt doing his job.

2. There are no confirmed reports of anything but what was reported is that Yurcich was among our initial interviews before final recruitment. (ESD) Interviews ceased after. Nothing to suggest "he waited too long". But Yurcich not leaving till after the season, allowed for the opportunity for him to return home.

3. I said that was my best guess but it was a guess based on what little actual info we have. Which beats the ish out of you coming in here telling people they're wrong and you know what really happened.

They would leak it. Im thinking someone on Bama or Clemson staff. If we dont hear after that game then for sure in house or someone outside with one paragraph in wiki. You have to take Coach at his word that big splash OC

I think he considers someone on staff to be a viable backup plan for now, so he's not in a panic.
If he finds a home run hire, that's even better. Better to not have something you want than to be stuck with something you don't want.

I also think about a timeline to get from where we are to where we want to be.
The pieces that take the longest to put in place in terms of the players are probably the big bodies on the line going through a good S&C program. (A young running back can come in a be successful more quickly.)
I could see him putting a higher priority on getting those big bodies ready, building the culture he wants, teaching his system, etc. He may have been thinking that if he can build that foundation (or at least demonstrate that it's being built) it will be easier to bring in the next hot name as an OC.

Yeah, that would be showing some epic confidence in your on-staff promotion to OC.

Pruitt: "Ok Joe, Will, here's the deal. I'm going to reach out to every candidate that's even a possibility over the next two months, but if I don't find the guy I like, then you guys have to Indian-leg-wrestle, best of three, and loser takes the OC position. Aight?"

there is ONLY one way that this search which has draged on and on can be acceptable!

It will be OK only if the new hire is working in the Monday night championship game.

If not, then we are exposed once again as fools!

We are a hundred million dollar year program! We should be able to pick the OC we want and get him under contract!

If the OC is not working the Monday night game, and hired Tuesday morning, then this will be on AD Phillip Fulmer and we can all quit sugar coating it!!!!!

Agreed. At this point if it's either Chaney or Enos, all "sins" of this OC search will be forgiven. If it's someone out of left field, a lot of the grumbling may be justified...

You are absolutely right, we waited too long. If yurich is who he wanted he should have had a contract signed 4 weeks ago. I still doubt we made an official offer. I trust Pruitt to make the right hire. In my opinion he is looking for someone who has the same offensive ideas that he does.

I lost faith in this search when CP said "OC Can be Overrated "
Well, you left out the context. That is not what was implied or meant. Regardless if CJP gets it done at UT, he knows how valuable good coaching is. He also knows the limits of coaching as it relates to talent.

and don't rule out the Clemson QB coach!

he also looks like he would fit, and would explain the delay/silence!!

Yeah I know what he meant but was surprised he said it. He said something about teams being so loaded with talent that it didn't matter who the oc is. That's a tad concerning to me considering we are years off from having that kind of talent for it to not matter.

I wonder why our due diligence is 6 weeks when other schools can get it done in a couple.

Hell...WVU and Miami replaced their head coaches in less than a week after both got blindsided.

It's almost like the brain trust at UT with a first time AD and first time head coach doesn't know what it's doing.

And Oklahoma fired Stoops in October and just named his replacement this week.
Alabama still hasn't named Enos OC.

Doesn't seem to be any set standard.
