Do negavols affect the program? (merged)

Who should "sunshine pumpers" root for instead of UT?

Surely every poster in this thread must know that recruits and/or parents of recruits frequent this forum; and, have also heard at least one parent of a current player state that all the negativity does in fact have an impact.

But lets just ignore the facts and continue to post our opinions. Ignorance is bliss after all, and we apparently have some posters that are in a constant state of ecstasy.

Find me more than 10 recruits in the past 3 years who have openly admitted to making a decision, or basing their decision, on what is said on here.

Good luck. :good!:

Save it man, is that really that insulting? You're being a little sensitive.

And no, i think they're delirious and blind.

Serious answer. Sorry for hurting your feelings.

Dude, you didn't hurt my feelings.. As far as I know it wasn't even directed at me.. My point was, what's the point? We all do it but it's silly stuff like that that gets stuff started...

I know it's not your fault but all this negative ****ing bull**** is dragging this board down and unless you're a drama queen and like to argue all the damn time it's not fun anymore..

Yea, I know... wah wah wah....

1-9 in our last ten SEC games. At Tennessee, which has never been a program defined by the moral victory or the "good" loss, that is the primary fact of the situation we're in now.

I challenge you to find me a fanbase in this conference that would be all sunshine and rainbows with that record in the SEC.

If this program is affected by a few a-holes on a message board, Facebook, and radio call in shows then this program is in a lot worse shape than I could ever imagine.

If people are going to go with this facade that the message boards have some kind of influence, it should be noted that it's more damaging to prop up a failure of a coach than to actually use this supposed power to fix the problem. Perhaps it works in your life to close your eyes and hope that problems magically get better if you just think positively, but that's never worked for me. Oddly, when I try to do something the same way in which I have already failed, it seems to happen again.

I don't need luck. The question is whether or not negativity affects recruits. The answer is yes. But since you don't like that answer now you want to make it about relativity. Feel free to apply statistics based on how many parents post on VolNation, with the understanding that at least one has clearly stated negativity hurts recruiting. Or, to use your logic... find me more than 5 (lets cut your number in half to make it easier) recruits in the past 3 years who have openly admitted that what's said about a program has zero effect. Good luck. :good!:

See what I did there?

Eric, I wonder with some folks on here.. I'm glad I have a wife, kids and a grandson that I love dearly and other things in my life that helps me keep perspective on what's really important...

Good post. No disagreement from me. Completely irrelevant to the topic at hand, however.

Read your previous post. That is what you want: a world of make-believe.

It might just work at Disney, the White House or the ACC. It doesn't cut center in the SEC.

Wow man, its just a sports forum. Think its past your bed time.

Sure, but I asked you to prove your point, and you came with a counter point that has basically the same answer as the example I asked you to prove, zero. The fans inside Neyland, tailgating outside the stadium, and the compliments from those that recognize them on their visits, have an infinitely more profound impact than anything anyone says on here.

I understand. I have a great life outside this place as well. :hi:

Oh yea dude, you definately have me pegged.. Pardon me all to hell for actually thinking people on here are smart enough and mature enough to not act like morons..

It doesn't cut center in the SEC.

:eek:lol: This is NOT the SEC, It's a message board there tough guy.. Thanks for helping to prove my point..

I thought our program isnt as " fragile" as everyone thought... Do you actually think the team gives any credence to a bunch of unathletic, unintelligent negavols who play World of Warcraft in their spare time? Heck NO! Our program will get to where it needs to be, regardless of their idiocy. VFL! Go Big Orange.

I don't see how it could be irrelevant. The argument recently has been on the impact of negative fans when it should be focused on the impact of negative results.

A poor record in this conference does considerable harm to Tennessee's ability to attract players compared to conference rivals.

We had negative fans on message boards throughout the 1990s. I didn't see it stop Fulmer from recruiting Top 5/Top 10 classes year in and year out. The record at Tennessee was strong and spoke for itself.

Now I'm being told negative fans are some grave danger to the well-being of Tennessee football. The continual run of losses are the danger to this program as it builds the perception that our level is with the bottom-tier of the conference instead of the upper level.

You're missing the point Eric. This was the question...

Do you all think bashing players, coaches etc. on message boards negatively effect recruiting, players and the program in anyway?

The answer to the question is an absolute... yes or no. As I stated in my previous post, the answer is yes which you seem unwilling to accept... so now you are trying to make it relative (e.g. fans, compliments, etc. has more impact than negative posting on VolNation).

fwiw... whether you're willing to admit it or not... I proved my point in the previous post. Also fwiw, I agree with you that game day, fan excitement, etc. likely has a bigger impact on recruits than posts on VolNation. But unfortunately that wasn't the question.

Wow man, its just a sports forum. Think its past your bed time.

After reading some of your posts that's rich.... :eek:lol:

Might want remember your own words from now on...

Think I'll get me a glass of milk and go to bed now...
