no one likes paying taxes but most realize they do serve a purpose. The argument is around whether they should be used to take from one group in order to give to another.

And the answer to that is a resounding hell no. People should be able to get help getting on their feet. But they should not be "kept" on their feet by the government. Which in effect is the working people who pay taxes.

We ALL tend to think that others think or feel like us. If you are instinctively selfish (not saying you behave that way) then you are more likely to think others must be "forced" to share. If your instinct is that others ARE your responsibility and that you should help them directly then you tend to believe gov't is a huge problem when it comes to helping people.

So liberals hate freedom but conservatives are freedom lovers? smh

It is quite simple. Liberals tend to see government as inherently good in an economic sense while conservatives see government as a necessary evil (that should be limited) in an economic sense.

The role is flipped when it comes to social issues. Liberals promote freedom while conservatives believe they should legislate morality.
