Do Bama fans fear the Dooley?

because it is a damn sight better than La, La tech but that doesn't mean a thing if you can't recruit. His recruiting plan has more holes in it than a 10 year old sock.

I am sure an EXPERT such as yourself could run the program much better.......

Give me a damn break. Some of you on here just make yourselves sound more and more mentally handicapped by the day. I am not sold on CDD yet either, but I am giving him a freakin CHANCE before I judge him. There is a reason none of us on this board are college coaches......mainly its the fact we dont have a clue what it takes to run a D1A football program. That doesnt stop a lot of the "experts" on here though. Priceless.

DD's recruiting plan does not have holes. The execution may or may not produce results but he has a better "plan" than Kiffin's shotgun approach.

That said, the notion that Bama or Bama fans are somehow scared of him at this point is silly.

When I was in grade school, our school hadn't beaten one of our conference rivals in many years. They were always polite and complimentary like this. We got a new coach and started dominating them... they stopped being nice and the rivalry became heated and fun.

When/if UT starts beating Bama and Saban, the polite, supportive comments will be gone.

Not only are they not afraid, they're probably still laughing their arses off. About like I was when they hired Shula.

Yeah cause Shula was such a horrible coach...I'm sure you would have done a better job there considering they were on probation with scholarship limitations when he arrived.

Remind me who jumped at the chance to hire him after he was dismissed in Tuscaloosa.

Saban had already taken LSU from the outhouse of college football to the penthouse. Stevie Wonder could see he was going to win big and win quickly at Alabama.

quickly as in his first year there when he went 6-6, yeah wow quick....

Remind me what he did in years 2 and 3. And even in that 6-6 year he beat the Hell out of us.

ummmmmm year two the team was beset with injuries and the tide finished 6-6, not bad considering the sanctions. Year three the tide went 10-2, any more questions??

edit: you talking about saban or shula?

Obv Saban did better in years 2 and 3, however, he didn't have probation and scholarship losses to deal with, like Shula. Shula had built back a fairly solid base by the time he was dismissed. This is why Saban was able to get fairly immediate results in his second year.

I really enjoy reading the threads on this site. I have found that 9 out of 10 Vol fans are football smart and classy. The other one is just a peckerhead. Not much difference than a Bama site really. OK one percent fire away.

The fact you think one out of ten constitutes 1% proves you meet the first criteria of being an Alabama fan.

O and Kiffin are the most organized recruiters in college football. The fact that you think they used a "shotgun" approach doesn't surprise me in the least, however.

haha, don't forget he almost got the miami dolphins head coaching job that saban dumped, until they chose cam cameron, lol.
Being passed over for a guy who was fired by Indiana speaks volumes about Shula's abilities as a coach.

They sure as Hell started to after UT recovered that onside kick.

That was kinda my point. The Bammers and the team for that matter weren't sweating UT before the game last year, but by the time the game was over they sure as hell were. They both know we were one decent kicker away from embarrassing them at home.

It doesn't matter what other fans or even our fans think about Dooley at this point in time. The only opinions that mean anything right now are the players. Are they impressed enough with Dooley and his staff to buy into what he is selling. Like most fans I'm on the fence about this guy until at least February. I want to see how this season plays out and what kind of recruiting class this staff brings in. If this team can finish at least 6-6 and he can bring in a top 15 class that has a few really good players and can put a big dent into our depth issues, then I'll be happy....At least for this year.

This so called recruiting plan that has a 4 hour circle designed to get 3 star recruits from within a 4 hour radius of Knoxville is just plain ridiculous. I mean SJT18 said Dooley's plan was better than kiffin's and I almost choked on my salad. Look the bottomline is we have a totally unproven coach that has a taste for 2 and 3 star recruits especially safeties from Georgia that go to Sunday school every Sunday and is going to run a 3 and 4 Tight end set when we don't even have 3 quality tight ends so you tell me who should be afraid of who? And like it or not Dooley can't hold Kiffin's jock strap in recruiting.
