How does a UT team wake up one morning and have no defensive ends to speak of?
If we do not have major scheme changes in the next few years, we are in deep doo doo. We do not have the talent to line up and beat people without a few wrinkles.
just the opposite for me. if we can't generate pressure with our front line (and we cannot), then we have to help our secondary by bringing heat to force QBs to get rid of the football. It's better than giving the QB time to find receivers who are going to be open whether we blitz or not. DBs can't truly cover good receivers, but QB pressure can certainly make it look that way.you can't really blitz when the secondary is this bad.
good point. I suppose it works together. I believe it was overstreet who was just on the post game show talking about how DE's of the past were able to take on double teams which made a big difference. I'm sorry that X got hurt, but he was disappointing. As for the secondary, they are going to be good I believe that it's just going to take time with a young team.just the opposite for me. if we can't generate pressure with our front line (and we cannot), then we have to help our secondary by bringing heat to force QBs to get rid of the football. Longshore looked like a twelve year old gorilla every time we applied some pressure, but we just stopped because we had to try and focus on the run due to our inability to even sniff a stop.
