Here's how Tennessee's weights stack up in the front four with the some of the other 4-3 teams in the SEC who are thought to be good defenses.

Tennessee: DE: 255, 265
DT: 270, 293

LSU: DE: 255, 245
DT: 300, 294

Florida: DE: 256, 248
DT: 295, 282

Auburn: DE: 229, 258
DT: 290, 312

SC: DE: 260, 276
DT: 303, 274
- Hubbs, VQ

Isn't Hood eating like 6700 calories a day or something crazy like that to get to that weight?

just saw that article from Rivals on the top 15 DT's this year. Malik made #4.

Anyhow, I wanted to point out that out of 15 only a couple were over 300 pounds. We always talk about wanting to sign the 'big uglies', but it appears that the top shelf guys are coming in less that 300.

Thoughts?

We're getting there weight wise after being sorely deficient for a couple years. Good at DE already, just need a little more beef at DT.

I would imagine we look pretty good at LB too, now that we have Maggit and AJ starting along with Austin who's got some size.

I noticed that too!

Also I would like to see the 4 deep comparison

"...we got the biggest DE's out there.. we got the biggest anything is not something we could say in recent years..."

Not really. The FL DE weights were wrong: 245 and 295 (Powell and Floyd).

It appears our top 4 are comparable to the rest on the weight chart. An analysis of the depth would be interesting.

You sure Floyd isn't on the inside? He was a DT out of high school and every 2 deep for Florida I've seen has him at DT starter. He weighs 295, and Hubbs lists a 295 lb DT as well, so I'm not sure you're right about the position unless they recently bounced him outside, which I'm excieted to hear because its the edge rushers I worry about with UT based on last year.

Saw that list too. Note that alot of those guys don't play the best competition. Therefore, the centers and guards in the conference probably aren't the same size as the hog mollies in the SEC. Not taking anything away from them, because effort and heart can make up for size. But it is what it is.

Yep. Floyd has been moved to DE and Easley to NT according to latest depth charts. I couldn't believe they did that, but there are actually Gator fans who think that the coaching staff is smarter than I am.
