Disturbing stat....and why we lose

UF held Kentucky to 9 points on the road, and KY has 3 WRs with over 100 yds receiving.

UF is at home, and they are facing a Tennessee team with NO WRs with 100 yds receiving

If this has been posted, I apologize:

UT
Passing: 568 yards
Rushing: 745

Ky
Passing: 575
Rushing: 500

UT
# of receivers with 1 yard or better = 12

KY
# of receivers with 1 yard or better = 9

SOS
UT: Bowling Green, OU, Western Carolina (starters player 1.5 Qtrs

Ky: La Laffeyette, South Carolina, Florida (starters played in all games)

Don't see your point.

Go Vols!

I know. My post wasn't directed at you, but just about everyone else on this thread calling me an idiot.

For the record, I am not calling anyone an idiot. I completely understand the point you are trying to make, and I will be extremely nervous if the game comes down to a 2 minute drill where UT has to depend on the passing game. I just don't think it will come down to that.

Overall, I disagree with you sometimes and agree with you sometimes, but you are a good poster.

I say it's time we start calling out the non vol fans! Fade, you take you @zz north of the state line and be a dang wildcat fan please. You clearly don't deserve to wear orange. I'd bet my last dollar had we beaten Oklahoma and were we still in the top 25, this fool would be posting about how he knows we will win the national championship.
Why log in if you are only here to tell us how we lose?

If you'd stop making dumb threads like this one, most of everyone on Volnation would think otherwise. You brought this on yourself, not us.

I will be in Destin tomorrow with family watching the game. If we lose, I will slit my wrists and take a swim in the ocean. Maybe a Great White will end my misery.

LOL whereabouts in Destin are you staying? Soon to be wife and I are headed there week after the Arkansas game and staying down the road from Pompano Joes for our honeymoon. LOVE Destin. Let me know how the water is lol

We are one dimensional against good defenses. We can't throw the ball against press coverage, down the field against any coverage, or block a blitz. All we do well is run the ball, and we will only do that well against UF with a true zone-read instead of predetermined hand offs.

My point, had we kept the starters in, our stats would be different. You can't measure what one team will do against another. His statement is flawed. Let this team play and at the end of the game, his statement would still not be relevant to the game whether or not UT wins. CBJ was making adjustments to the OL, I think he has his starters......this game will not mirror the previous.

Go Vols!

Why don't we have WRs with 100 yds receiving? We don't throw long, and we spread it out. DeBord is a run-first guy. And he doesn't seem to have a lot of confidence in our QB's ability to throw consistently and accurately. Not to mention, we don't seem to use our playmakers all that effectively. North and Pearson aren't targeted a lot, Pig hasn't played much and Malone, while improved, still has too many drops that should be catches. We have the talent; just not the stats.

I personally believe tomorrow is a breakout, statement, or whatever you want to call it game. It is amazing to me that tomorrow is the FIRST time since like 1955 that both teams enter this game unranked.

Wow! I'm not much of a stat man, but, that's remarkable. Who'd a thunk it. It's still Florida and, God Almighty, I want it BAD!!!

On the brightside we don't lean on the pass like past Vols offenses.

Why we win:
Hurd
Kamara
Dobbs
Special teams
No backuo for Grier
No run game besides Grier
Barnett
Sutton
OBrien
Tuttle
Khalil

Tabor

2 sophomores and 2 freshmen in this list, still too young, wait til next year.

This is disturbing. Taken from RF..

Rick Neuheisel is as bewildered by our offense as anyone:

"Tennessee to me is a conundrum. You've got this dual-threat QB in Josh Dobbs who finished 4-1 last year... Had that epic comeback against SC... walloped Iowa in the bowl game and gave everyone these high expectations. So they start this season by beating Bowling Green who we now know is a great team. We watch them take a 17-0 lead vs Oklahoma. You were there for the game Chris. Was there anything more exciting and seen a crowd into more than anything like that? And yet after the first 2 plays of the 2nd half, Tennessee was held to 9 yds of offense for the rest of the half. When they needed to make a first down to help the defense they couldn't do it. By the end of the game the defense was spent. I don't see the marriage between offensive philosophy and the skill set of the QB. Josh Dobbs had 14 carries for 12 yds vs Oklahoma. I didn't see a lot in the way it generated yards... I didn't see them take advantage of Josh Dobbs' skill set. I think you're wasting your most valuable resource. Not one receiver for Tennessee right now has over 100 yds in receiving. That's ridiculous. Pig Howard, and I know he missed game 1, Marquez North, Von Pearson... And even the backs Kamara, and I know Hurds having a terrific year, but if all I have to do is stop Hurd then I'm going to live with Josh Dobbs in the pocket when I have Hargreaves in the secondary then I feel good about that. To me I think unless there's a complete transformation of offensive philosophy, and Josh Dobbs' legs don't figure into this game mightily, then I think Florida is going to take care of business.

....

"Just like Colin Kapernick at Nevada. Just like RG3 at Baylor. When you get the QB into running formations and give the defense the knowledge that guy's a weapon then you have to add an extra defender to the box. Then what do you do to the coverage... You make it simple to understand. And you're throwing downfield can come to life... rather than having to finesse throws. I don't see the logic yet in how Tennessee is playing offense. When they had a chance to get their signature win vs Oklahoma, they blew it. They had it won. They took the foot off the gas pedal. It was embarrassing to watch."

Let our playmakers make plays. We haven't been doing that, and every analyst has commented on it.

When you're throwing to walk-on Alex Ellis while your 4* and 5* playmakers are on the sidelines, there's an issue. And winnable games are lost.

I feel pretty good about tomorrow. Let's end this thing and get on to UGA and Bama.
