Dish/DirecTV-ESPN3 / Gameplan- PPV viewing options

But to be serious, last year the Ohio game was our one PPV game, and it was not on ESPN3/360. I was disappointed but broke down and paid the $25 to watch it. One other point that may matter is that I live in BFing-KY. Sometimes they black out inside the state line.

actually it was on ESPN360 but as I recall they royally messed up the start time and didn't start streaming it until midway through the first half. I was super pissed but once it got going the Picture Quality was still MUCH better than what Gameplan delivers and I saved $25 or $30.

This is accurate as I recall. They crapped the bed, causing me to drive to BWW.

My current cable provider (Brighthouse) doesn't offer it but my new one (FIOS installed 9/11) will. Guess I'm a week too late for this one.

Gameplan it is.

Cox added ESPN360 (as it was called at the time) the week after the Ohio game last year.

I would at least try it before paying for the ppv. I watched a couple World Cup matches on espn3 connected to my tv and it was great quality. I'm also not sure gameplan broadcasts in HD

^^^^THIS. In my experience, the PPV-only games have NEVER been broadcast in HD on gameplan. They have all been fuzzy with bleached out colors - looks horrible on a good HDTV set. I ordered a couple of PPV games on DirecTV and thought about disputing the charge on my credit card because the video was so awful. ESPN3 will stream it in HD if it is broadcast in HD but I'm guessing it will be an SD event. Even in SD the picture quality of the ESPN3 broadcast has been noticeably superior to the one I paid $30 for, so try it first.

For those in the area north of Nashville.....I just called Buffalo Wild Wings in Hendersonville and they will be showing the game! :good!:

I just looked and those channels are not HD, I thought they were!! I've never ordered gameplan or a single game, but have ordered many UFC's in HD. Guess I just figured it would be an option.
Hopefully ESPN3 will be on top of things and get the start time right. I remember that hiccup from last year. I'll just hook the laptop up to the TV and watch it!!

I'm also pretty sure you can use an xbox for espn3 now instead of going through the hassle of connecting your laptop. Haven't tried it yet though

Summary:

In State:
1. Attend game at Neyland Stadium
2. Listen to radio
3. PPV through your cable/sat provider
4. Local bar/mooch off neighbor's PPV
5. Questionably legal website

Out of State:
1. Drive/fly and attend game at Neyland Stadium
2. ESPN GamePlan (~$30)
3. ESPN3.com (free, if your ISP subscribes - Cox, Comcast, and AT&T are known providers)
4. Numerous online radio sources
5. Questionably legal website

Hope this helps

I used option 5 a lot last year. Always run a malware program after using. One week my computer had a trojan horse but nothing bad happened. Other than that it worked great.

This isnt enabled on live yet, wont be until November or somewhere around there. I ended up just buying the entire gameplan for the year through my cable provider and it was only 115 but they broke that up to 4 payments of 28, not a bad deal.

thanks, knew the rumor was out there just wasn't sure on the timing. And ordering the whole thing preseason will save a couple bucks

I'm from out of town but will be in Knoxville this weekend for a reunion. Can I get the PPV there (in Knoxville).
I know GamePlan doesn't "allow" in state teams games to be seen. at least that's the way it is in Ala (no Ala or Auburn home games are shown).

Looks like the UT-Martin game will be on ESPN3.

Glad I rigged my cables to hook the tv into the ol' laptop this winter!

I think it's blacked out in Tennessee though.

Correct?

Incorrect?

I'm not in Tennessee though so not a problem for me.
