Discuss Heupel's Offense

soooooo better, faster SEC defenses will be taken by surprise and we will throw on them all day long. Cool.
A well executed offense doesn’t need to surprise anyone. It just needs to find mismatches and exploit them. Will JH’s offense be able to do that? I guess we will see but I dang sure think he can do as well or better as the last two coaches who could only keep shoving square pegs in round holes.

Heupel came to OU from Snow JC to run Mike Leach's true spread O which was a pass first scheme...wide line splits, 5 wides, no QB designed runs, deep shots, hurry up. Remember, his dad is a coach and JH is very cerebral. As OU Co-OC with Jay Norvell, he adapted his schemes to suit the talent.

More balanced than most probably think.

When he goes tempo, it's the real tempo, as in the center snaps it as soon as the ref spots it (Not lineup and stare at the sidelines for the entire play clock).

Really innovative and creative route combinations, particularly in the redzone.

Seems like the QB has to be the best player for the unit to be successful.

His offense is beautiful if you have a great QB. Huepel bringing his whole staff with him from what Brandon told me. His OC coming with him to

Whole staff, or whole offensive staff, Greazy?

Thought I read somewhere that he wasn't expected to keep many (or any?) of his defensive assistants.

Whole offensive staff. UCF have no offensive coaches right now.
Hope Brandon does great there. And gets some good coaches, soon.

If worse comes to worst, could he transfer back? Once you've been through the portal, how long do you have to wait before going through it again?

That would be nice playing back at Tennessee with those coaches. Huepel definitely had a plan for Brandon. They called him the day he got in the portal and offered him. He already enrolled at UCF him and Dillion Gabriel are real close they work out everyday and he is happy just to be back in Florida. Now if Dillon Gabriel go in the Portal then he may come back. lmao

Looking at the roster at UCF, there's no reason not to think that we could produce similar offensive stats by year 2. We should at least average 35 points per game in year 1.
