Discuss Heupel's Offense

Heupel's offense does generally use a mobile QB. I don't know that HB is a fit. That guy we picked up from Va Tech might be though.

Just for context, the dude I was referring to was b.j.

I am really hope and think that Heupel is more direct and has a better understanding of his offence. He certainly has shown more success than b.j.

I think the biggest problem Butch had, outside of Dobbs, was using QB's there were not a fit for a RPO system. That and wildly predictable play calling.
I didnt like Dobbs at first. But looking back I think Dobbs is why we won a lot of the games we did. Jones didnt know how to use people properly. When Hurd asked to be moved to TE and he said no was a HUGE mistake. We lost Hurd because of that. And having Kamara the 2nd string RB was probably the best example of he didnt know how to use what he had.

RPO, Spread, Zone Runs, ISO runs (man blocking) and read option

RPO’s, read options, anything relating to a QB run doesn’t bode well for Bailey at QB. Bailey looks to have some solid potential as a drop-back, pro-style guy, I’m having a tough time envisioning anyone falling for his actually running the ball or his fake runs.

The QB doesn't even have to run in an RPO offense lol, you hand off to the RB or pass the football

This Heupel offense will take deep pass shots over and over if they think you can't guard it

Honest Fact: Josh Heupel had two 3,500-yard passers in three seasons at UCF. Tennessee's football program has had three 3,500-yard passers ever (Peyton Manning ('97), Erik Ainge ('07), and Tyler Bray ('12).

Tennessee plays Bama, Florida, Georgia and a whole bunch of other killers every year, all loaded with NFL draft picks, plus usually a tough out of conference team.

UCF plays East Carolina, Navy, Florida A&M, Tulane, Temple, Marshall, UConn and Houston every year.

Or, the QB fakes the handoff and keeps it. That’s an “option” too in run, pass, option... lol

Look, we just lived the same thing with Kyle Trask in Mullen’s offense. While Trask had a spectacular season throwing the ball, a huge chunk of Mullen’s offense was obsolete, because NOBODY feared the QB run, and NOBODY fell for any QB run fakes or play action off fakes.

Bailey can be similar to Kyle Trask or he can be a disaster in this offense. One thing that helped Trask was throwing to guys like Pitts, Toney and Grimes. I don’t see those type of dudes on UT’s roster at the moment.

You and X's & O's guys speak up on how this guy's offense looks. Does he use TE's? Does it require mobile QB's? How elite is the speed he has had available at UCF? Will it probably require smaller linemen? Does he use a lot of misdirection? Does the QB ever take snaps under center? Does his offense throw the ball down the field? How does he use his RB's? Feel free to add any other questions.
Better than Pruitt offense. Curious on keeping and D staff and Chaney and VFL’s.
