I suppose you think we'd be winning NCs every year now if we had given Dooley or Jones more time? By that same logic Bama was foolish to can Mike Dubose, which means they wouldn't have hired Nick Saban. You know, the coach who was their sixth different head coach in ten years?
No actually I've been a fan for 41 yrs, born and bred a VOL thru n thru. I've suffered along with the rest of ya, I just don't believe that we will ever get anywhere if we continue to fire coaches. I always hear n read that a coach has to have time to get his players etc. But we give these coaches x amount of years to get those said players then still have no results and fire said coach and hire coach y then he has to have x amount of years to get his players and it's a never ending revolving door. I don't know what the fix is and like I said to the post above quite frankly I don't think anyone in our administration has any idea either.Patience? Did you become a fan in 2017?
We don't know that there's not another Saban. I would venture that many people thought Bear Bryant would never be equalled until Saban came along.Yeah well we ain't Bama and there isn't another Saban, and no I don't know exactly what the fix is and don't claim to know just tired of the same thing over n over again. I didn't like yesterday any better than you or any other fan but firing people all the time can't be the answer or we would be winning by now cause we fire everybody. No I don't think Dooley or Jones was the answer, quite frankly I don't have any idea of what the answer is and don't think any body does at this point.
Your right, good point. It's mind boggling to me as it is to everyone that this team was better last year. I just find it hard to believe that a staff full of excellent coaches with the hardware and resume's to support just all of a sudden can't coach and get our players motivated. We don't know that there's not another Saban. I would venture that many people thought Bear Bryant would never be equalled until Saban came along.
Sure, we should have not lost to Ga State, but there is no excuse for the complete melt down by Tennessee fans. Support the team and staff as they both grow and improve. It starts with good recruiting classes and building depth which Pruitt is doing. I was disappointed with Saturday’s outcome but I am a graduate and VFL and expect this team to improve.
Fair enough, but no one seriously believes Pruitt will be fired, or frankly should be, after the first game of the season. Honestly, you’re creating a straw man that didn’t exist outside a few drunken and pissed fans (rightfully so) following the worst loss in program history. But you have to admit, what happened yesterday is absolutely unacceptable. No actually I've been a fan for 41 yrs, born and bred a VOL thru n thru. Preach it brother! It’s gonna be very hard for our fans to get the worst home loss in Neyland history out of our psyche. You got it all wrong, the fans who are melting down are the ones who have supported this program relentlessly during all the lows and the minimal highs over the past 20 years. Enough is enough, that team that played yesterday was not interested in giving their all for Tennessee, they were not interested in putting on a strong opening performance, they were not interested in being there, but GA State was and they beat the Vols asses!!! There was nothing I saw yesterday that would give me or thousands of other fans any hope for a winning season, little lone a bowl game....it is what it is......so the fans who are jumping off the ship, I do not blame them. It is expensive to go to the games, it is a time/travel commitment for a lot of fans and they have shown up consistently supporting this program. A lot of them believe there are better things to do with their hard earned money and time on Saturdays than to watch a school field a team of unmotivated players who could care less about who they play for. The best part of game day these days is the pageantry that leads up to the game. Instead of tearing into the fans, how about you tear into the UT administration that has been run by morons for almost a quarter century.....or maybe tear into the players who have no heart on that sacred field.......better yet, question what the hell is going on with this program. It is a sick program and is on life support where the fans are concerned. If this team is already this lethargic with their opening game against a team they should have beat by 4 scores, I do not know what magic wand can be waved to correct it. I will be there for every home game and maybe we will see some improvement and if they kick the cougars tails next weekend convincingly then maybe there is hope, but it will be very hard for this team to get the worst home loss in Neyland history out of their psyche.......

Oh yes sir/ma'am, absolutely unacceptable. Don't get me wrong I wasn't trying to justify the game just the knee jerk reaction to it. And I agree and understand that the majority of responses I was referring doesn't represent majority of our fan base but it just gets old every time there is a hiccup or a let down.Fair enough, but no one seriously believes Pruitt will be fired, or frankly should be, after the first game of the season. Or will we see another embarrassing saga as our incompetent administrators wring their hands for months then get us another unknown quantity and make them a millionaire for sucking.Lot of season left and things might turn around but losing a home opener to a program that has only existed for 10 years might be a death blow. By the end of October we will know if Pruitt is getting sh!!canned or not.
If we are lucky it might just be mentioned for 2 to 3 years. I fear though that this becomes part of a generational taunt to be hung around our neck. This will be our version of "Punt Bama Punt". I know if I were a fan of any other SEC school I would never let Tennessee hear the end of it.For the next 2-3 years the loss to State will probably always be mentioned when ever TN football is discussed. Fans have a right to be pissed.
Any AD worth their salt will always keep a running list of candidates and their potential availability and what it would take to get them here. Tennessee has a terrible habit of firing coaches without having the next guy on the hook already. If and when the time comes to can Pruitt, Fulmer should have Coach X ready to announce within 7 days.Or will we see another embarrassing saga as our incompetent administrators wring their hands for months then get us another unknown quantity and make them a millionaire for sucking.
There is a lot of humor to this post, BUT, it is sadly True. If I were on the coaching staff of GS, I'd make sure it was mentioned often-and loud. Let me also add, that little school(football wise) in their first decade of football has every reason to be proud of their team.If we are lucky it might just be mentioned for 2 to 3 years. I fear though that this becomes part of a generational taunt to be hung around our neck. This will be our version of "Punt Bama Punt".
