DirecTV and the SEC Network (merged)

The fact that they (DTV) are more concerned with their non sports fans paying higher prices because of the SEC Network tells me that they don't get the typical SEC or Vol fan.

I am going to stay patient with DirecTV. I always have a backup plan. I will be watching the Tennessee/Utah State game somehow.

Yea...there will always be places to stream games from online.

I just can't justify getting rid of NFL Sunday Ticket for 2 games against USU and Ark St.

Like they haven't thought for 2 years about how much and what package to stick SECN in??Waiting till three weeks before launch to JUST get it right..it is called holding you hostage..

The gullibility of the American TV public and population is amazing ..

Directv has known all along which package ( sports - fewer customers ) they want to put it in. Problem is, Disney/ESPN won't agree to that package and want it in with the other ESPN channels ( more customers, more money ). Also, Directv and Disney/ESPN regular contract is nearing an end and that's also playing into the negotiations.

They'll either work it out or they won't. I'll be watching the SEC Network either way on Aug. 31 when the Vols play. Directv stands to lose a lot of long term customers if they don't sign up soon.

I'm a Vol Fan first and foremost, if an NFL game is that important to me, and it's not on locally, I'm going to a sports bar to watch it. Not to mention I watch a lot more SEC football than I do the NFL. I watch a lot of the highlights on the NFL network and ESPN.

I'm more loyal to the Vols than I am to any provider. I can't justify missing the Vols or the other SEC teams because DTV has the NFL Sunday Ticket. I like the NFL but I love the Vols much, much more than the NFL.

Even more confident with all these people leaving now and showing DirecTV the impact. They WILL get it done.:good!:

LMAO, If you think DTV cares about you or anyone else leaving because of the SEC Network, you are sadly mistaken. If they cared about SEC Fans they would already have a deal in place. I was a customer with them for over ten years, they have the worst customer service in the business. I don't trust them and if you care about seeing the Vols on the SEC Network you will ditch them too.

....can't say I agree with you on this. I've been a customer for 9 years and I've never had an issue.

It's funny the bad experience you said you had with direct sounds like what I went through with dish network.

You tell them FB.

People getting riled up in a bunch get us customers what we want. Same provider, and the new channel. The deal will be done soon.

There is some talk on other boards that some people are hearing the SEC Network may announce deals with Direct TV and Comcast sometime during media days. There is another rumor out there that Direct has a deal done and can't announce until after this month when their current contract with ESPN runs out. I don't know if any of it is true, I thought their contract didn't run out until the end of the year. Another part of the rumors is direct TV will get access to the Watch ESPN app.

I just got off the phone with Charter and they said they did not have any information in regards to the SEC network. The CSR that I was on the phone with literally was googling my question about Charter and the SEC Network...

I gave her until the first of August.

I hope you never have an issue with them, my receivers used to quit working all the time, and I would have to call their Customer Service line where it would lake at least 30 minutes to speak to a person, and when I finally did get someone they would read from a flow chart in an attempt to diagnose the problem. The entire process would take at least 45 minutes for them to tell me what I already knew, their receiver quit working. This happened on numerous occasions. So far Dish has provided excellent service, and the picture is outstanding.

I hope for all of our fans sake these rumors are true, but I seriously doubt it. If there were deals in place it would be announced ASAP to keep from losing customers, and as a selling point for new customers.

I have been a customer since 1995. I know everything there is to know about their customer service. When I call them they never fail to thank me for being a loyal customer and I can't tell you how many times they've given me free services including Sunday ticket on occasions when something went wrong. They do whatever they can to retain their customers. Dish is renowned for poor customer support. I will gladly stay with DirecTV and be watching the SECN on a far superior service.

So, I'm a loyal Vol, and your loyalties are with Directv, good for you!

I hope for your sake, Directv gets their act together in time for you to enjoy the SEC Network on 8/14, I know I will be enjoying it.

No once again you got it wrong. Loyal Vols, or not loyal Vols are not made up of a stupid network that probably won't be showing or talking too much of the Vols sad to say. They will be talking about Alabama, Florida, Auburn and LSU for the most part. Tennessee will be overshadowed by these and other teams until they do well in football. Other sports is a different story, however, especially women's basketball, softball, and a few other sports. But even the gymnastics are dominated mostly by the SEC teams above! YUCK!

I have grown up with DirecTV my whole life, and nothing has compared to DirecTV. NOBODY has the programming, the channels, or the customer service that DirecTV has.

If I don't get SEC Network by 8/14 I am not going to lose ANY sleep at all. There isn't going to be enough stuff to keep my attention than what I already know about all the teams.

By August 31 is key. Then I just need the network for 2 or three games. Even then I am not sweating it, because my stepfather in law has the SEC Network on his Dish Network. All I need it for is the game.

The rest I do want the BEST customer service, the BEST programming, and the BEST value for my money. And I get that with DirecTV.

Plain and simple. Just my opinion.
