Dining in Gainesville

Best Steak in Gainesville is either Mark's (Herbstreit eats there when he's in town and my personal favorite) or MT's Chop House (a little further out of the way).

My favorite BBQ would be David's Real Pit BBQ; if you are looking for a good place closer to campus I always have a good meal at Adam's Rib Co.

The Wings at Mother's are pretty decent. You can certainly do worse in Gainesville.

Gator City
Copper Monkey
Mother's

Slightly further away:
Boca Fiesta is good for mexican food
Big Lous pizza and Leonardo's Pizza are excellent.

Nice dinner, not too much money:
The Top - also a nice bar - really good food

The best food:
Mark's
The Paramount
Mildreds

Also, archer road has olive garden, carabas, bone fish, etc...

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head right now.
