I know he was injured in the spring but have not heard much of him lately. Any news? Still injured? Thanks in advance.

Shoop said yesterday he likes Dillon Bates and thinks he can help this year, but he needs to stay healthy.

In our 4-3 package he has played the SAM LB position with Bynum. He can be on special teams, and he's in the mix at the WILL LB position with McDowell and Sapp to backup JRM.

Shoop said Bates texts him all the time and says he'll do anything to get on the field.

Anything?! Last time I said that I would do anything, I ended up married to my ex wife.

If the tight end runs a 6.2 40 time, Bates can help Jumper cover him.

Seriously. Why do our fans enjoy poking fun at a guy who just hasn't been able to make it on the field. He's giving his all for Tennessee but sad we can't give him our support

He's hurt them by not being great...at least immediately. :cray: The only way children can deal is to lash out. :cray:

With the studs we have at LB, plus his injuries, i understand why he hasn't seen playing time. I'm hoping he's good enough to fill in next year after we lose JRM and Bynum to graduation. He'll most likely compete with Sapp McDowell and some of the freshman and may start next year, even if it is only at the 4-3 LB. Special teams for sure this year.

What a great way of showing grattitude. Especially how his recruiting class helped bring us back to relevance.

Staying healthy is code for competing and playing through the minor injures, nicks, and bruises that kept him on the sideline last season.
