Digital Ticketing & Scanning Tutorial, Issues, Tips, etc. (merged)

That’s what I don’t get. They have been using the scan to get in for years. Same company even made the scan and tickets. Paper or not, the problem would have been the same. The scanner didn’t work. Had nothing to do with paper or not

That's not exactly what Pitt released in their statement. It said that the biggest problem was for those who had not already downloaded their mobile tickets. I don't know if the scanners were working at the stated time for opening the gates, but the scanners at our gate were working fine an hour before the game.

Putting your tickets in your ewallet is not always an easy fix. I flew on a plane a few weeks ago, and the only way I could download my ticket was to take a screenshot of it. I tried to put it in my ewallet, but an error occurred every time. Usually, there’s no issue, but that day, it was.

Similar issues happened with my Busch Garden tickets as well. That app is so terrible. You are supposed to be able to pull up your tickets/passes any time on the app, but it just wouldn’t work on my phone. My wife got it to work on her phone, and she tried to get it to work on my phone, but error messages were all I’d get after a solid minute of a spinning blue circle. Yes, I agree, etickets are much more convenient...when they actually work...

Have no problem with E Tickets, having said that I think there should be a option. Some folks act like people preferring paper tickets are commiting a crime or something. And there have been issues across the country. What‘s wrong with providing the option. Just because some prefer to pay things in cash and like paper tickets doesn’t make bad people. GBO!!!

Lmao. Says the guy that can’t figure out technology
Oh I know the technology and got my tickets and sent them to the people who will be using them. At least, I am wise enough to resale that problems do occur with electronics and and are more likely to occur when the system is new and the WiFi around Neyland Stadium is on of the worst systems in the Nation. People had problems Saturday and some missed part of the game, even at Pitt Stadium. Again, grow up.

they tell you multiple times to put in your google or apple wallet. maybe... do it? didn't have an issue with them either game so far this year

E-tickets are not new. They’re the norm and have been for years. I’ve been going to concerts, baseball games, Preds games, Titans games, etc. for a decade using e-tickets without incident.

Of course, we had to know UT would screw it up. The Pitt incident is surprising, especially given it’s an NFL stadium.

I had zero issues getting in at Gate 23...IMO UT didnt screw it up.

Fans on the other hand...

Download the tickets to your phone a couple of days prior to the game and the likelihood of having issued is dramatically reduced.

You don’t need wifi using tickets in your wallet. Learn technology. Counterfeit paper tickets are a larger problem

I can see a scalper selling the same tickets over and over during the day at different locations and whoever gets to the gate first gets in and everyone else is screwed.

I'm all but positive once you send the tickets from the UT App (ticketmaster), you don't have them anymore. Unlike paper tickets where a scalper could print as many copies as he wants.

At a grocery store or department store self checkout, what is the malfunction percentage you encounter that requires employee intervention?

Mine has to be at least 33%, and the clerk gets in no hurry to resolve the issue.

Imagine 100k all trying to use these things within an hours time. Yikes.

Wonder if the natives in line might get restless when Joe Blow has an issue and refuses to leave the scanner and get to the back of the line and to try again?

I had trouble at the Nashville GP Indy car race. Apparently with my phone's brightness turned ALL THE WAY UP still wasn't bright enough in the blaring sunlight even under the entrance gate tent. I had to be taken over to a special side area and after several attempts the barometric pressure, gravitational and magnetic forces, sun spots, planets and stars all lined up and then i got right in.

So i ordered 2 tickets off vivid seats and they said they were shipping them via UPS? How does that work? I thought i read somewhere you can get paper tickets if you pay a fee?

Then please teach me. If you buy your tickets and try to put them in your ewallet, but all you get is an error message after 25+ attempts over the course of 3 days, what do you do?

I'd google the problem and try to figure out what was causing the issue and then take appropriate steps to resolve. Usually, there is an issue in settings.

Put them in your phone wallet and you won’t have an issue.

I agree with this to a point..if the network cant read the ticket then it wouldnt help if its in your wallet or not

At the Ball St game most of the issues were created by lack of knowledge on the fans part. I would assume by the third or fourth home game most will know what to do.

I had to make sure Wallet was linked to my Gmail account which I never use and not my Hotmail account which I always use. Once that was done, I've had no issues moving both VOLS and Titans tickets to the Wallet.

I can "transfer" my tickets to Joe on the street right before the game for $400 cash (assuming service works). I have the money and Joe walks away toward gate 21, happy as a clam.

IF he does not immediately "accept" them while standing there with me, I can slip into the crowd and "recall" the transfer. Joe is screwed. Now I can sell them again and again before I decide I'm on borrowed time and go home to watch on TV.

I'm sure the hacker types know how to cover their electronic tracks and not get busted.

Before a learned individual accuses me of being an anti-Christ luddite, this very scenario was confirmed as possible by a confused-looking TN Fund staff member at the Gate 10 training session a month ago. Another member was equally befuddled. The phrase "I never thought of that" may have been muttered.

I'm not saying I could do better vetting this process (for dang sure) but that's where we are. No system is bad-guy proof, but let's not kid ourselves that opposing opinions are from idiots. It doesn't make us enemies, just different.

I only want a choice for me. Without choice, we would all be driving white Corollas. I prefer a 69 RS/SS with chambered exhaust...in hugger orange of course
