Didn't Chaney blow it again?

Yea, we ran the ball well yesterday. And we did nothing but run it on the drive that got us to within 7 points. And that was good. And then our defense held twice late--and that was good.

And then, people, WHAT DID CHANEY DO with 4/5 minutes left in the game? We started throwing it again--that's what we did! And what happened? An interception--on a risky pass play that we did not need. And then a Bray fumble on a pass play. So I would argue that Chaney f**ked up again. We should have stuck with the run, kept things simple--but instead Bray starts flinging it around, Mr. Casual starts getting pressured by the rush--and we/he commits two late TOs and UT loses the game. So in fact we again didn't stick with the RUN as much as we should have--and it cost us.

Nope, he didn't blow it again.

UGA was expecting us to run it alot again and had the box stacked against us after giving up another TD to our tough running.

Bray got rushed and made a bad pass to the wrong side of our WR and it was picked.

If the pass had been well placed to the sideline side then our WR would have caught it and the D player couldn't have done anything about it.

Bray got rushed hard and made a mistake by trying to make a big play instead of just falling down and protecting the ball so he fumbled it instead of getting another chance to try and make a big play.

These things happen to even the best in the NFL with years of experience so don't try to rag on Bray or CJC because both of them were just trying to get a huge Win for us.

Nothing is ever perfect in football.

What really killed us was when Chaney made brodus miss that chip shot FG and extra point. And if that wasn't bad enough he made Darr give up a blocked punt. But I'll never forgive Chaney for making our LB's and DB's miss countless open field tackles and let UGA's RB's break off 3 long TD runs.
What I haven't figured out yet is how he was able to assist the GA kicker with that 50 yarded that tied it up at the half.
The real problem is the way this team has allowed an offensive coordinator to make every decision in the game, and in every phase of the game.

Chaney did call a good game--UNTIL the last four minutes. Then he reverted to the same BS he always reverts to--let's start flinging it--and we commit two TOs. You guys are missing two fundamental facts: The first is that throwing the ball is a lot riskier than running it--more bad things can happen. And second rule is, when Bray is facing a decent defense, pass plays get even riskier because he get panicky. We started passing the ball again and committed two turnovers when we did.

So Bray throwing a pick and fumbling is JCs fault? Does he have a secret video-game controller he uses to control Bray we don't know about?

Unbelievable. If he runs it every play, you'd piss and moan about that, too. Playcalling was pretty solid overall yesterday.

I don't think we can pin this one on Chaney.

Actually we can. I'll get to Sal later, but Chaney's really huge, glaring deficiency was on display for all to see with the game on the line especially since he actually called his best game as an OC ever last night.

He has done nothing to develop Bray's natural talent. Everything about the last half of Canto 4 owed itself to Bray's under-development as a big time QB. Everything about the bad throws was down to a lack of simple, fundamental QB play.

I put that all on Chaney. Two weeks with David Cutcliffe would turn us into real contenders.

(Sal is worth a separate write up)

I have never liked Chaney since he stepped his foot on the UT campus. I still would love to see him fired. However, lets give the devil his due. Tonight he called a very good game in my opinion . We mixed up the pass and run well and we were not predictable like we usually are. Believe it or not, i was totally satisfied with his game calling.

Exact same here. I don't like what Chaney does most of the time, but last night was way better than anything before.

If UT had just played half as well on D as the offense did, Dooley comes away with his signature win.

I still don't get why people think the offense played so well...

Tenn 22 - Field Goal
Tenn 26 - Touchdown
Tenn 40 - Touchdown
Midfield - Touchdown
Georgia 18 - Touchdown
Georgia 8 - Touchdown
Defense - Touchdown

Combine the last three and you've got 21 points on 26 yards of offense. The offense also had 4 turnovers.

Hard for me to say that the offense was any better than the defense just because there was 44 points on the scoreboard.

Im pretty sure Dooley was calling pass or throw. Late in the game, after an offensive penalty, the camera panned to CDD and it appeared he said "throw it" and the next play was a pass. maybe.

I disagree. I felt that the coaches blew the FL game but this one was a typical SEC duel. If we had a better D we win.

It was, and it evidently took a sledgehammer biyotch slap from Dooley to get him where we were last night.

But his other failures on this offense were magnified to Hubble-esque proportions in the last 8 minutes of the game. He has done nothing to mold Bray into a big-time QB.

Two weeks with Cut, and Bray would be all-world.
