Did you play college sports?

Any idea what the current state of the program is? I keep thinking that some of the alums need to stay involved, but real life takes so much time and effort... so you know how it is.

unfotunately, from what i hear, not so hot....the people that have been in charge the last few years focused more on getting as many people that have no idea how to sail in the club just to party and not on fielding any sort of ccompetative team or teaching them how to sail, so its gone downhill in my opinion somewhat since i was there

guarded anfernee hardaway in state, before he became penny, he scored 47 on me I scored 43 on him. had offers was gonna sign with unlv and had medical issues lost all my offers, yes ut was one of the offers

I walked on the Notre Dame football team in 1974 but was assigned to the scout team because of my size and lack of talent. Because I was all heart, I got to dress for the final game of my senior year against Georgia Tech. Coach put me in the game on the last play after crowd cheered my name from the stands. I sacked the qb and was carried off the field. True story.

joe montana said you werent carried off the field...

Had a chance to play basketball at Bethel in McKenzie, TN or basketball and baseball at Freed-Hardeman in Henderson. I was "in love" so I ended up going to Murray State to do nothing, well nothing sports related. Bad move on my part.

Ha! That was kind of the model in 1997-98, when we realized that we needed enough money to stay in a hotel room for regatta trips. There were about 6 people in the club before then, so we decided to recruit a bunch of chicks who were willing to pay for learn-to-sail classes and spring break trips. In theory, they would bring guys with them, everybody would pay dues, and then the sailing team would get to: (a) have chicks around; and (b) stay in a hotel room the night before a regatta. It wasn't always that way. Previously, we slept in cars, or in sleeping bags outside the regatta sites plenty of times. Anyway, plan worked, but eventually the non-sailors realized they had a vote in how things went, and you were there for the fallout. You might have known my little sister?

Still, there should be good infrastructure left behind, and SAISA looks like it has expanded. I'm always curious about helping out, but, as they say, "you can't go home again." :)

I played 1 year of D II basketball at a small school in Eastern NC and 1 year of Varsity Tennis before transfering to UT and finishing up.

... Ultimate Frisbee for UTC in the early 2000's. Yes, it was more than intramural level. We played tourneys against all the SEC schools, ACC schools, Big 10 schools, a few big XII schools... Never had any type of school funding while I was there and lost most of the time, but it was fun.

Played two years of baseball at UT. Then I saw the writing on the wall, I was better of getting my Biochem degree.

I currently play rugby for Kennesaw State University. We have played against UT a few times, and I was actually thinking that I might transfer and go play for the Vols next year.
