I knew we were going to lose. I was proud of them for how they tried. Didn't watch the second half because I knew it was over. But did the team quit or simply out powered? Because that is the difference between us the last couple of years and Vandy, and Miss State. Those teams don't quit no matter how bad they are getting beat. It can tell how we'll play the rest of the year.

They fought.

I think our depth killed us, though. Felt like we were worn down on both lines of scrimmage. UGA can go 3 deep at some positions. Whereas, we're pretty screwed even if we have to play 2nd string on D-line sometimes. We also lost Aubrey Solomon, which was very bad for an already thin DL.

No they didn’t follow your lead and quit.

We were down two scores going into the 4th Q. This team fought as long as humanly possible.

Tennessee is still very short on SEC talent, unfortunately.
Getting the talent necessary to win in the SEC has been ever so difficult

Ultimately Georgia took advantage of our depth, mistakes and youth. That's what good teams do... And I'm glad Jennings got into it last night and I'm glad Morris helped that UGA player to the sideline.

It was primarily about two things: Depth and experience. While Pruitt was stuck with keeping out there what few LBs and D-linemen and D-backs he had available, the dawgs kept substituting those starting 4* and 5* subs with nearly equal other 4* and 5* fellas. There's no way this shallow-in-depth, mostly young and still learning bunch can hang in there for 4 quarters with such a loaded and veteran-laden group. At least a couple more strong recruiting classes will be necessary to hang all game long with the UGAs and bammas for them to have a shot at beating teams like them. Until then, it's keep learning by rote, passing that knowledge to the next recruiting class, and make a point to get at least a little better from game to game. I agree, Volberry. There doesn't appear to be any quit in this group. That alone is encouraging. Right? GBO!

They fought pretty well but we were out manned all around and Fromm will and did pick us apart. Gotta stop the huge D lapses in every game. The best receiver from the other team should never run wide open with no one around. This is the head scratcher for me. We have supposed D gurus all over the staff but none of them can seem to coach proper assignments. We’ve got to start getting a push from DL

They ran out of steam. When uga took away our run game we got pass happy. Defense is just too thin and frankly not very talented. Add to that their flaws with the fundamentals of tackling and it was inevitable that uga would take control in the second half. Still wonder if we don't butcher some punts and make that FG if we might have seen a more respectable score. Just a crappy time for the special teams to implode. I'm also damned sick and tired of fair catching kickoffs and allowing punts to bounce.

The Volz didn’t quit, but the talent difference will be hard to overcome and may not ever happen

The scoreboard doesn’t reflect how close the game actually was. Defense played solid for 3 quarters.

The 4th down stop and forced punt and holding them to a field goal was huge.

Offense just has score points.

They fought like hell

Bad timing for expected freshman mistakes didn’t help.

That hit that caused the last fumble isn’t on Maurer.

Deflated after Maurer hit/fumble/TD...

And then they were NOT sharp, or even really playing as a Team with 1st on the Georgia 5 at the end...where JG once again showed he is anemic in the Red Zone.

It’s this simple. UGA was just that much better. Our depth showed. I saw absolutely no quit in this team whatsoever.

They fought but there's no depth to speak of so sooner or later you just get worn out. Defense did a hell of a job to hold Georgia down for a half, considering how little they've got to go on out there. I cannot give the defense enough credit. They were out there 20 of the first thirty minutes thanks to Tennessee's bang bang scores, which hey, not complaining about scoring. But they stopped a number of early Georgia drives, we just sputtered out on offense and once they adjusted ... well, they're #3 for a reason.
