Did some research on GT

I love our head arm chair coaches.

I'll just wait until Sep 4th too see the outcome of the game. I'm not too confident as some.

It is HELL to stop the flexbone offense.

It's an opinion, not trying to be a coach. Of course we have to wait tilll the game is actually played to see what happens.
All this time I thought Freak made this site so we can discuss anything UT sports and stuff. Learn something new everyday.

To defend it is easy if you are disclipined. Follow the reads, play your assignment and DO NOT follow the ball!

Seems like I heard that b4 the Air Force game as well. Hopefully the coaches will keep overconfidence out of the training complex since we cannot keep it off the forum boards.

I was thinking the same thing. Air Force gave us fits.

Why not put him on ignore like most sensible posters? I don't understand engaging someone with whom no one respects.

On the subject matter, I'm not understanding the reservations of playing Tech. Lots of time to prepare means an easy win.

He is too entertaining to ignore. Also, that's a cheap way out. I only have one ignore and the guy realistically never posts anymore.

On the subject matter, see APSU 2016.

Assignment football is a lot of it but you also need to be able to set the edge, effectively shed blocks, and having solid run support in the secondary. If we fail at any of those then we will have some issues.

I am not really concerned about having to game plan for this type of offense once in a season. If you can slow down Tech's run game you can stop most team's running game. This is going to be a great test to see if the defense is ready.

I also doubt Indiana gets a full week of game planning. I could see a couple of weeks spent implementing the game plan for GA Tech and then turning attention to Florida's offense with inplenting the Indiana game plan in a couple of days. I know some on here won't like or agree with that but I don't think any SEC coach would waste a lot of time on OOC teams like Indiana. You can say it is looking a head but it would be foolish to dedicate as much time to them as you would Florida. We should be able to blow past Indiana using the athletic advantages we have at each position.

Tech is also breaking in a new QB and Thomas who just left was a dynamic player. UT should handle Tech and yes, I follow both teams but will have my orange on Sept 4.

True but how equal are the comparisons......the elephant in the room is. When the 3rd and 4th string is the main line up. The there should be a dramatic decrease in talent, chemistry, real time coachablity, experience/ real time play recognition. Now add that to a big chunk of your defense. I remember it well. One big throw down the field then a couple of run plays, then touchdown for the other team. So I get the point you're making. We can not however let the evidence for why be overlooked either.

The starting defense had far to many injures last season to be completely effective against Vanderbilt; however, the replacements are scholarship players and they shouldn't be giving up 49 points to Vanderbilt who struggled offensively most of the season.

There was just something wrong with the defense last season and it wasn't all the injuries. Especially in the Vanderbilt game, they just couldn't stop them.

Hopefully, the players respond better to the new coaches this season and make dramatic improvements defensively. If not then the offense must lead the way with a new inexperienced starter at QB, and I don't like the sound of that.

I'll give that to you, there are multiple facets to it. The Nebraska game gave me some hope though.

I been watching game film on GT, (youtube lol ) and they are not that good. It seems like the scheme is justified by "if" the Defense makes enough mistakes. For example they usually pass less than a hundred yards a game, but when they do the WR walks into the endzone based off of a miss read. If our D can make good choices. the game is in the bag.

If Tech gets on a roll they're hard to stop. I wouldn't want to play them early in the season with a D that hasn't recently faced the triple option. If they don't turn the ball over, they'll get their yards.

I see the game as a potential shootout. Vols will need to take advantage of every scoring opportunity to win. Tech can really get up vs bigger programs.

No sh#t! You don't say. Thanks for your well thought and insightful response. FYI, when I said Tech I meant GA Tech not VA Tech. That should clear up any remaining confusion between us.
I mean christ dude...

Thanks for taking some time to research bud. As you can see, there's a bunch of people waiting to post something contrary, no matter what--they're fishing for 'likes'.

Based on a lot of talking heads predictions, i've been pretty worried about the game. Hope your research is right.

Watch the GT at Georgia highlights from last year (2016) on YouTube to get your blood pumping . Tech won . Had 164 yards in the air and 226 on the ground .

It always makes me laugh when people use the "we have 9 months to prepare for them, EASY win" argument. Ummm, Georgia Tech has the same amount of time to prepare for us so that's not an advantage.

Who pissed in your cheerios today? lol No need to get so defensive.

Your post did kinda sound like you thought we were playing Indiana, not Indiana State. A simple "oops that's what I meant" would have sufficed lol
