Did Quarte Sapp just quit mid-game? (Confirmed did not quit, asked to leave)

I see you wouldn't like Saban as a coach. You say you don't prefer Butch but your description nails Butch as your preference. Got it!

Whatever.

You must not have paid much attention the past 5 years.

Jones acted like an idiot on the sidelines either screaming or tucking his hands in his armpits when things got tight.

Pruitt has acted like an idiot kicking a white board and grabbing a player the past couple of weeks on the sidelines along with getting an unsportsmanlike penalty last night.

Jones could have avoided the Tuttle nonsense and drama by telling the media not much of anything other than it was a practice injury.

Pruitt could have said they chose not to play Sapp and left it at that then dealt with it internally. Instead he airs it out in the media and its yet another drama in this sh**show.

I am sure this is all too nuanced for you to grasp though.

Yea, this would have worked. We chose not to play a kid, so the kid went to the locker room during the 3rd quarter and waved for his Mom to come meet him. That would have been as bad as Butch.

Like I said. Too nuanced for you to understand.
Negative. I understand your message. Unfortunately, your message is just more of what we've had for the past 5 years. Pruitt is a change and people do not like change. Pruitt is a change from the millennial, everyone gets a trophy mentality, and it's tough for people to digest. It will change a culture though.

I didn't watch their game yesterday but I've seen it before, those things tend to be more excusable when you win though. Fair or unfair, that's the lay of the land.

So you’d be ok with it if we had been winning? You can’t have it both ways man, either you like it or you don’t.

You can’t just say oh it’s fine cause we’re winning, that just makes you look like a hypocrite

As another poster put it yesterday, I'm just tired of this same old crap "(Kiffin/Dooley/Butch/Pruitt) will turn it around, you have to understand that (Fulmer/Kiffin/Dooley/Butch) left him in a terrible situation, (Kiffin/Dooley/Butch/Pruitt) is the guy." Meanwhile, in reality I just got sent this garbage, I was born a Vol, and I'm not going anywhere, I'm just tired of us being a joke:

Hope you blocked whomever sent this.

Looking back, I'd say it was when General Patton slapped that soldier and was forced to publicly apologize that the emasculation of the American Warrior began...

Nowadays, you can trigger some folks with a hat, or a t-shirt, or a good old-fashioned poopfit on the sideline.

Personally, I like his fire. Should he have done it? No, but I've done worse over less, and he'll learn how to "project" as a head coach (my guess is that he had Uncle Phil in his ear last night or today), and even if he doesn't, his passion and fire are evident, and that's exactly what this program and this team is lacking in.

Hell, when I was a not-so-stong safety in a single-A school back in the late 70's, my coach grabbed my face mask so many times that I thought my name was "Dammit Son!" Somehow, I survived, and although my wife will probably tell you I'm "not all there", I don't think those moments scarred me for life.

Maybe we should keep that trash can on the sideline for a while? Fill it with orange tennis balls. That oughta give ESPN a highlight when he boots that sucker out to midfield.

Spoiler Alert: There's probably going to be a lot more drama before this team reaches his expectations. Get used to it.

Meanwhile, Go Vols.

(1) I like his fire. He can kick whiteboards around Neyland a half dozen times, and I’ll applaud him if it’s in the context of yesterday’s shameful showing.

(2) I am outraged and disappointed at the failure of the team to play hard. aka, “man up”

(3) re “Kavanaugh Outrage”: I’m guessing that you have no clue what it is like to grow up as a girl/ woman in this world, and what we go through. This sh!t is real, it is devastating, and eff you for dismissing it and comparing it to disappointment in a football team. I hope to God that you don’t have daughters, and spare me the crap about “don’t get yourself in those situations.”

Have a lovely day, and Go Vols. Azzhat.

No, I don't like it, I'm just stating the fact that it tends to get excused when someone wins, that's just reality. Anyway, if we're going to pick nits about this though, I've seen Kirby and Muschamp yell a lot and act crazy but it's mostly being passionate in the act of coaching or arguing with the officials, Pruitt's little temper tantrum of kicking the dry erase board was neither, it was much closer to Bobby Knight territory.

We can move the discussion to another thread if you like, but since you clearly took that comment so personally, I owe you my version of an explanation:

- I have no doubt that "this sh*t is real". I have an LEO background. I have worked rapes. I know the humiliation of submitting to a SANE exam. And the interviews. And the trial. And having your most intimate (or humiliating) life's details exposed in open court.

- Go do your research here. Not so long ago, I posted (in the Kavanaugh thread, I think) about a situation that hits close to home. If you want to know where I stand on legitimate claims of sexual assault, go find it.

- I have serious, and I believe legitimate doubts, about the accusation against Judge Kavanaugh. In my world, we follow the evidence, not the headlines. I have doubts, and I believe they are legitimate.

So in closing, my reference was to a "rush to judgement" on Pruitt, using the current situation facing Judge Kavanaugh as an example of letting the media (or a message board) tell you what to think. If I offended you, for that I apologize. It is never my intent to offend here.

Failing that, probably best to make use of the Ignore function. Not trying to be an "azzhat", but I have a tendency to speak my mind, and I'd rather not be read by you than offend you again.

If you'd care to compare notes in a logical, mature manner, in an appropriate thread, please name it.

I agree, it was completely out of line for me to use the term “azzhat.” I hope you will accept my apology.

I feel the reference to the Kavanaugh issue was completely egregious. Seemed pretty irrelevant to the discussion. Why drag it in?

I’m not going to hunt down your other thread, as I stay far, far away from the Politics forum, if that’s where it is. If you have had a family member touched by sexual assault, I share your grief.

Your somewhat patronizing reference to “logical, mature” is noted. I’m sure that as an LEO (tip of hat and endless thanks to the majority of your profession), you are familiar with the common and understandable reactions of those whose loved ones have gone through this.

I regret and apologize for the derailment of this thread. After 64 years on this earth, I don’t like seeing what seems to be dismissive reactions to a seemingly endless and nearly universal (among girls and women) issue. It seems from what you say that I misinterpreted your original post, and again if so, I apologize.

Go Vols; geeze guys, get it together!

We're good. No apology required. You're a solid poster. I am truly sorry that I evoked such an emotional, and obviously personal response from you.

Feel free to call me out if...no, probably best to make that "when"...I use a bad analogy to make a good point.

And, as you said, Go Vols.

I can't believe half or a lot of posters on here are finding fault in CP over this incident. He's in his 1st SEC match-up and the offense is practicaly giving the game away and he simply ask Quarte to go in and then he gets more drama added to an already bad situation. Here at UT we're fortunate to have the staff we have 'cept I'm starting not to like Helton but then again it could be that JG and KC both aren't good QB's. The lack of discipline from the players can't be tolerated. It is a privilege to wear the orange and CP will make the distinction. Hurd refused to go in against USCe in 2016 and it's been downhill ever since. You tell me know it alls what would you do if a player put you on the spot at the same time you were dealing with some other serious matters? Don't judge a man until you walk in his shoes and have all the truthful facts.

I would’ve done worse than CJP.

Personally I appreciate Pruitts passion and intensity. I also appreciate that he's willing to take massive risk during a game, I feel that's a quality that not even Fulmer had. Our offense has been woeful and will continue to be this season. I have a hard time judging Pruitt for that at this stage, it's not his fault that he's inherited soft un-aggressive offensive lineman, only time and recruiting can fix that. In short basically I feel that Pruitt's fire and agresssion is needed at this point in time

Oh man, that was close. We almost had one damn thread where people refrained from bringing up politics. Can we just have one single place, just one, where we talk about football and only football?

Perhaps Richmond plays because he is the best we have at that position for now. Same with the other players.
Have some simpathy for Richmond highly rated kid coming out of HS. Butch sells him a dream of the NFL but gives him a sack of magic beans and the worst coaches he n the world.
Consider Richmond a freshman just learning to play P5 ball and your closer to where he is.
It could be worse if we were not here.

A lot of truth in this statement. Plus, I think the guard beside him makes him look worse than he actually is...........

Did anyone see the sideline confrontation? If it occurred in 3rd quarter during our touchdown drive, then it was insane. DC Sherrer went off at a player for not paying attention. Player talked back and Sherrer lost his ....the player was NOT Sapp.

DC Sherrer...by the way I like a little discipline and expecting kids to listen to their coaches...

Since the start of the season I have not seen this team come out for a game inspired to play. We have no leader, certainly not our qb, the onside kick is a great example where our guys could have and should have come up with the ball. Play guys who have heart, at least we get effort.

Well, as has already been asked, did anyone actually see what happened with Sapp and whoever supposedly had to be restrained?

Does it matter anymore.
Pruitt said he and Sapp had a meeting and they’re moving on and putting it behind them.

So whatever happened doesn’t appear to have long term implications

From freaks notes on the press conference

Sapp came to meet with CJP yesterday. One mistake, everybody makes mistakes. We're gonna move on and go from there. He's seen things like this happen before, or things like guys not showing up for practice. But Sapp has been a good student and a good leader for our team.

Bit Fijivol said we have no leaders. Especially our QB. So that must bwbthe reason why we lost and had issues on the sidelines.
