Did Quarte Sapp just quit mid-game? (Confirmed did not quit, asked to leave)

I can't see Pruitt allowing Sapp back.

A message has to be sent that this is unacceptable.

The least I'd see would be a multiple game suspension. Even that may send the wrong message to a team on the percipice.

I heard about this from a friend right after the game. He doesn't think the punishment will be light either.

At some poine the leadership of this program has to send the message that this is about Tennessee, not individuals. Selfless, not selfish personalities is what will turn this program around.

You can go back in time and replace Butch with Dooley/Kiffin/Fulmer. There's always an excuse. Maybe we just suck at hiring coaches
If we could get back to being as bad as we were with Fulmer, I'd be exceptionally happy. Easy to play arm chair QB, but getting rid of Fulmer looks like the biggest mistake now in hindsight.

Give some credit to the Florida offense. They must've been playing physical, all-Madden style football to make Sapp tap out and call for his mom, especially that early in the game.

Absolutely not. And he should have to earn his way out of the doghouse. But he was frustrated and made a mistake. I’m not defending the act, just stating I wouldn’t kick him off the team for it if Pruitt thinks it was out of character, and apparently he does.
Exactly. Pruitt will probably handle depending on Sapp attitude after the game and tomorrow. If he's allowed back, he'll certainly be buried on the depth chart or on just special teams for awhile.

Another example where Pruitt should have kept his dumb mouth shut. Of course Sapp is gone, but you keep those details internal. He's in way over his head.
I disagree. If a guy refuses to play when called upon then he deserves to be called out publicly for it. Also if he intends to transfer then he really shot himself in the foot because there’s not going to be many teams accepting of someone that quits on their team in the middle of the game. Who wants that on their team? At least finish the game and have a conversation with your coach, man to man. Almost every coach has an open door policy and I’m sure Pruitt is the same. Maybe he should just focus on school because apparently he’s not cut out for football. I’m glad Pruitt said something.

Culture change is what was needed and clearly you can see it is here after today’s game. The result isn’t a W or anything close to it, but Pruitt put the team on notice tonight. He has a vision and if you’re not going to help him reach his vision he’ll show you the door. Weak minded players no longer welcomed here. We may go 3-9 but if that’s what it takes to get where we need to be next year and beyond so be it. Go Vols!!

Exactly. This wasn't done in a closet. He walked off in front of the crowd. Pruitt did the right thing by saying what he did. I liked what he said. I hope he is very, very strong with his discipline. If he dismisses him I support him completely. You can't have the players telling you when they will and will not play.

As Pruitt said, "It is what it is." No need to sugar coat it.

Kongbo Abernathy Richmond should go too. If I was half as bad as those guys I would change the way I use my time. Instead of football, do something that could help their careers, because they should be miles from a football field. Id rather eat my own vomit and everyone else's vomit on this board than watch them play for ut.

Don’t forget Buchanan

Firing fulmer wasn’t a mistake. It should’ve happened earlier. The mistake was allowing Mike Hamilton and the Haslams to choose his replacement.

Hopefully Sapp realizes the magnitude of his mistake, takes his licks and learns from this gaff.

At the very least, he needed some more game time to get ready for the game next week with Georgia. Now he probably won't make the trip even if he stays on the team.

Pruitt has a tough time getting these recruits to man up. Perhaps they should take the frothing latte machine out of the locker room. No more manicures and waxing either.

No more therapy Peacocks either.

I’m good with it. I would have thought he walked away from the team. NowI know he was shown the door. Big difference
