Did Quarte Sapp just quit mid-game? (Confirmed did not quit, asked to leave)

He didn’t say turn in your gear, just asked him to leave the field after he refused to go in. He followed by saying he has thinks Sapp is a fine young man and this is just one mistake and hopefully he learns from it.

This. Butch was a phoney . Pruitt spoke up. No since in not saying anything, it will come out eventually . I'd rather hear it from the HC . It sets the tone. I would like to see a few more kicked off the team, we would do just as good playing walkons/undersized fr than kongbo Abernathy Richmond.

Absolutely not. And he should have to earn his way out of the doghouse. But he was frustrated and made a mistake. I’m not defending the act, just stating I wouldn’t kick him off the team for it if Pruitt thinks it was out of character, and apparently he does.

Sapp refused to enter the game out of concern for his body as he was healing from an injury. Pruitt did the right thing sending him to the locker room without terminating his membership on the team.

In all seriousness, you don't quit. Ever. I support the coaches decision. The kid made a mistake but it also speaks of his attitude. You don't abandon your teammates. Suck it up and do your best. Plus, half effort is better than none.

Then why did he dress out? Did his body/injury worsen during the first half while sitting on the bench? If that was the issue, he should never have dressed out in the first place. His injury did not occur tonight. Anyone who uses or accepts his injury as an excuse is barking up the Butch Jones tree.

I sat in Y9 right above where the players parents sit. In the 3 Rd Qtr. The first defensive series, Sapp came running towards the tunnel and motioned to the stands, His mom got up and ran up the steps and left. I turned to my son and said it looked like Sapp just quit the team. It happened right in front of me. Unbelievable.

Pruitt addressed this in the post-game show. Sapp made a mistake choosing to dress out and he paid with the face chewing when he refused to go in. This won't happen again with any player, and if it does then we'll see an immediate termination.

Behavior + time = reputation. This is a situation where the player had a solid reputation with very few (if any) transgressions over time. The calculus of the situation says to give him another chance; Butch Jones has nothing to do with it.

I think you didn't realize what my reply was. Another poster indicated Sapp refused to go into the game in the 3rd quarter because of his injury. That's what triggered my response about dressing out.
