Did Pruitt’s buyout just drop?

Another solid point. Forgotten in all the 'we can't afford to fire him this year' And honestly what kind of assist. coaching candidate is coming here to work under a lame duck coach (see Dooley's third year)
Same with Butch. He hired 5 assistants, a new strength coach, and promoted Scott to OC. Epic fail.

It's still cheaper to fire him this year

Totally agree.

Looking at 2021 schedule, I don’t see anything better than 5-7. And if he loses to Pitt, which is entirely possible, it could be a 2-7 start.

Does anyone think this clown has any chance of success?

Buyouts can always be negotiated, so it is not very relevant if it dropped or not...

Bottom Line: Will more than likely be here another year... Tick Toc

We seem to do a good job of keeping 2 HCs on the payroll at the same time for the past 13 years.
Constantly paying 2 coaches might as well not even fire Pruitt keep paying his salary move him to dc and hire a competent hc.

Lol, it’s bad logic to expect us to beat teams we consistently out-recruit?

If you are going to consistantly believe that everything is equal, yes, you are wrong. Many of our failed games came from a hand full of underperforming Jr and Sr players, if you are expecting Freshmen and Sophomores to out perform more mature teams, then either your delusional or blind.

Well, there you go, that is how bad UT's talent was, these coaches didn't wake up one and forget how to coach,it is not the Xs and Os, it's the Jimmy's and the Joes.
Hindsight is 20/20, and it’s pretty obvious going back to his days at Hoover it’s always been the Jimmys and Joes for Pruitt. His team’s performances against comparable or less talented teams, and second half adjustments, show he’s probably never had the Xs and Os. And no, he’s not going to just wake up one day and just be a good strategic coach

Right. A 20 year perfect storm.

This is supposed to be fun. Remember? Enjoying being a fan? Pruitt staying, with his contempt for fans mixed with ignorance and arrogance just isn’t the way a lot of us want to spend our precious Saturdays. This decision will result in a lot of fans simply checking out, because this isn’t a job, or something to be endured. It’s meant to be fun. Even a loss can be fun if it is a hard fought game where your guys played their guts out. This is more like drudgery, watching Slingblade walk around emotionless during a blowout and then barking at the media who dare ask questions.

If Pruitt is back, I’m done until we decide to be competitive again. And I’m not alone.

Let the TrueBlueFan(r) attacks begin.

I agree we need a new staff badly. All I'm saying is that it's not gonna happen.

We have been "losing" fans every since Dooley, Butch, and now Pruitt have been in office.

Fans go and others take their place. If Covid leaves, the stands will be close to full. The big money is TV anyway. UT will always put 80,000 fans in the stands even in down years.

I agree

Although I support everyone's right to speak their minds, but these cleverly disguised "Fire Pruitt" post, I find them senseless and destructive to the program and fan base.

No, 3-7 is senseless and destructive to the program and fan base.

We've been a GREAT recruiting school for almost a decade. At what point does it kick in that the talent is being poorly managed?

Pruitt got a pass from many people because "those were Butch recruits" even though those were DANG GOOD recruits, talented athletes. I don't get it. If you can coach, you can coach talent whether you recruited them or not.

It's an excuse to say we lack recruits. We've been able to recruit at a high level for years....... we've NOT been able to win at a high level. Where should we point for that disparity?

I was asleep at midnight last night (and if you have small children I’m sure you were too.) I had a pleasant dream, though, about Pruitt being told to clean out his office on Monday because his buyout had dropped (FYI, Tee is now the interim and is asking people to call him black Belichick).

Anyway, I just wanted to ask, did Pruitt’s buyout actually drop when the ball dropped last night or is that just a silly rumor? If you believe it’s true, why do you believe this? What report or language in the contract are you basing that on?

Groundhog Day!

The university of tennessee has decided to stay irrelevant in football. We have two choices, remain a less interested fan or root for another program. I truly do not believe any rational fan will start the 2021 season thinking UT will be a contender or even a player for the SEC East championship.
This is actually what I believe.

For whatever reason, UT at some level in the skyboxes has decided that it's okay to be Missouri or Arkansas. They collect TV money, they have reasonable fanbases, they lose an awful game now and then but mostly they lose to "good" programs, and they are reasonably content as also rans.

We are that kind of program now. It's very sad because, as fans, we believe we can be better. Without the skyboxes...... we can't...... and we appear to have lost them.

I hear you, but brother, I think you are going to see a more substantial drop in fan support than has been seen to date. If Pruitt stays, I think there will be a substantial number of fans that attrit, and lets face it, Tennessee isn't attracting many new fans these days.

Blowout losses to UF, uga, and Bama will cause an even faster exodus.

Sad part is, I don't think Fulmer cares as long as his checks clear. He lost his fire after the '98 NC, and has been a paycheck collector since the 2002 season, IMHO, including this stint as AD.
