Did Peyton really support Schiano?

Honestly, who really cares? Whether he did or not doesn't change my opinion of PM. Everyone has a different opinion of Schiano and his personality and involvement at Penn St. Just because someone's opinion of him differs from yours, why does that have to destroy your opinion of PM?

As far as supporting the Haslams, you make it sound like he is not capable of independent thought or making his own decisions or way in this world. I highly doubt he needs the Haslams to accomplish anything he wants to. To suggest anything other is absurd. He could make one phone call to any number of teams and be a GM if that is what he wanted. Pretty sure the Browns just hired one and it wasn't PM. How does that fit with your narrative.

For the record, I was against Schiano but I'm not going to lose sleep or waste mental energy on who supported whom. I'm all in with CJP and am moving forward.

If Manning was misquoted in the media I'd imagine he'll correct the record eventually.

Peyton hates Schiano, it's public knowledge.

Money and power can change any opinion.

And Peyton absolutely, no debate about it, was one of the three people solely responsible for interviewing and deciding which of the three candidates for AD would be hired. Peyton voted for Currie and was quoted as saying "Fulmer started out a few touchdowns behind". Those interviews took place in the Governor's Manson in Nashville.

Of all the internet rumor scum I've read over the past month, this takes the cake.

Really move on from it. If anything has been proven in recent weeks it is that almost all speculation was wrong. Insiders were outside all along. Trolls made many fans turn on themselves. We assumed way too much. Created conspiracy theories and non existent smoke screens. Picking a coach is like rolling dice at best. Everyone has a different way of looking at it. Peyton is our legend. He loves this school. We have a coach and a new future. Let's move ahead.

Peyton will dissapoint you everytime...I've learned that over the years and knew what a selfish person he was a long time ago from personal experience. Hate to say it based on what his glory means to the university and fans, but its true.

I can't find a direct quote from Peyton saying Schiano would be a good hire. I can only find where Herbstreit claims he did. If there a link that quoted Manning as saying he was fully in on Schiano or just OK?

One could say Manning is scotch golf aka mit Beaver.

Maybe he is able to put personal opinions aside when asked to give input on non personal decisions. If so he is one of the few VFL's that have been able to do this.

Reading this board and following twitter during the search it was obvious that many could not do that where it concerned the readiness of Martin.

Fulmer was also able to put any dislike he has for all things Alabama and hire the current DC as head coach.

Folks that are called upon to make decisions like this have to be able to put the personal aspect aside.

Truth is Schaino is a good coach and would have probably been a really good HC. He just did not effectively clear his name to the satisfaction of Tennessee fans. I suspect that those who have a closer relationship with him are completely satisfied that there is nothing there. Even the parents of our QB were fine with him as they know the man.

If he aint sellin pizza or insurance, you wont find many direct quotes from Peyton........Several local am sports talk shows had VFLs tell of Manning calling them for support...... :thud:

They hired Dorsey.
Yeah I saw that late yesterday. Now I don't know why Peyton would have supported Schiano other than maybe he truly thought he would do well here. It boggles my mind that anyone could think that.

Manning is and has always been the one the university depends upon to call others.

He supports the decisions that those who are charged with making the decisions makes. He is and has never been a pot stirrer in public. You will not find him on twitter and social media dogging the coaches and dogging the players like several of the VFL's do. (Swain, AH, etc)

Josh Dobbs is probably going to be the same way. Charles Davis is another VFL that is always supportive. I would rather have these type of men speaking for the University than those who whine and complain to make themselves seem important.
