Did or has anyone noticed that Butch Jones looked a lot less tense and stressed during the game Saturday ? He also seems that way during his presser also..And at today press conference he looks relaxed like he must know something..Either when he is going to be fired or Lord help us Currie has told him he will be around another year.. Any thoughts on this ? Just wondering what y'all think..

Hopefully he was relaxed due to being informed in no uncertain terms that the end of his tenure as HC at Tennessee is near. I don't even want to think about another year with that fool as the Vols' head coach.

While it's true he brought in some talent and helped clean up the APR...at this point bringing that up is like trying to buff and shine an engine-less junkyard car. It may look alright but it's going nowhere fast.

Not the offense...not in the least. The defense is workable until they get gassed from living on the field for the majority of the games. I was getting at the analogy I'd made in the post, since there are still some folks like to roll out the APR and recruiting class rankings as reason why Lyle should be appreciated and (Lord help us) retained.

Maybe he is currently in talks about getting hired at a different school and knows that he will leave on his own accord and will land on his feet.

Maybe he's going to be fired and he could technically retire on his buyout alone. I know I wouldn't have a worry in the world if I was about to get paid MILLIONS

maybe Currie gave him a contract extension for having a resilient 5 star heart, they just haven't announced the details yet

I did see it.
I agree completely.
He definitely knows he’s fired. His wife even said something to the effect that the “next coach will look like a genius”. That clearly means she knows there is a next coach.
It’s just a timing thing but dang this hurts to watch.
Just rip that bandaid off please!

When you go into a game knowing for a fact you have no shot of winning, you tend not to stress out and just accept your fate.

Same with his job status.

It looks like that relief you get when you find the can just in time with defcon 4 diarrhea.

He knows he got paid well for a job he shouldn't get and he's now gonna get paid well to leave. No reason for him not be relaxed at this point.

When you feel overwhelmed and trapped... think of the worst possible thing that could happen then ask, "What would I do then?"

The worst thing that could happen to Jones is that he'd get fired and be unable to find another job. In that case, invest your buyout and retire before 50. Not exactly a destitute prospect for living.

He knows the inevitable and has accepted it. Maybe his agent informed him of his next coaching gig.

Butch is here to stay. I honestly believe Currie is going to let him finish this year and likely next year. Butch knows he is going to be padding his bank account and that whatever he does he is safe.
