The staff coached him for one year, Dooley will have him for 2+ years. Dooley will get the credit if Jackson stays, which will be a much bigger statement than just Jackson's talent. Kiffin didn't have any discipline last year, that I know for a fact, and almost cost Janzen his career.

I certainly am not a Kiffin fan, but discipline was not an area where I would criticize him.

I've have been told that he had zero last year. Players came and went as they pleased, and pretty much did as they wanted. I can say with certain confidence that there was a lot of stuff swept under the rug, both players and coaches both.

Your statement came across as if the previous staff gets no credit for these players' development. That is 100% false. They don't get full credit, but they do get some. And with Monte Kiffin being the DC, I think any defensive player, after their years in Orange are over, will owe more to Monte than you want to believe.

confidence in the UT brand: less
developed relationships with recruits/coaches: less
ticket sales: less
booster donations: less
merchandise sales: less
expectations for the near future: less

So it'd be worse, worse, worse, worse, worse, worse and worse off by any objective measurement.

If you're goal is to have less talent, than yeah, he did a "good job." My theory is that it's better to have more 5* recruits and more 4* recruits you leave for the next coach than what you inherited.

Do the 8 EEs count? He brought them in, but Dooley got them to stay. I think getting them to stay would be easier than getting them to commit to a program in the first place. So Kiffin did leave us with some talent. He also inherited a bunch too (see the past draft). It still remains to be seen if Dooley can develop that talent, however low it may be, to compete in the SEC.

I believe that is the most "Truthful" statement Kiffin has ever made. He did leave us in better shape than when he found it, and I'll tell you why. When he "Found" it, he was off making minor NCAA violation after violation. When he left the program, it opened the doors for a Great All-Around Guy by the name of Derek Dooley!!! INTEGRITY is coming back to Big Orange Country!!!!!!!:rock:

Not if they're all paper recruits that you're too lazy to scout and they can't play ball. Fulmer's bust class and disaster class murdered us.

Kiffin clearly left us worse off, but it wasn't because of recruiting or talent he was bringing. He could have done more for the lines, and would have had he stayed.

Absolutely not. UT had 6 players drafted a month ago that weren't X recruits, obviously. This means that the talent was there.

What hurt us was the timing of his departure, which set UT way back in recruiting.

Amen to that. He may have been working on 4-5 OL/DL big prospects but in my opinion he did not concentrate on it enough. And that is what's killing us right now.
