The radio guys said since the storm came through, they couldn't bring the band back on the field...since they already ran through before.

The teams warmed up went to the locker room, band came on field had prayer and national anthem, lighting in the area field was cleared, after the delay teams came back out warmed up again, coin toss, kick off and you get the rest. Its not that hard no running through the T

Candy ass on the bands part. Zero love for them.

Do you honestly think something like this would be the bands call? Or that they wouldn't do the one thing they do that doesn't involve being ignored while everyone hits the restrooms and concession stand?

There wasn't anything for UT or the freaking Band to decide regarding the T.

By NCAA rule, a weather delay prior to kickoff automatically cancels all pre-game activities and only a 10 minute warm up is allowed. UT doesn't get any say.

Its a good rule too. There isn't a fair way to handle that delay if one team doesn't want to wait any longer than they have to and another wants to have a 30 minute dog and pony show. TV audiences are fickle too. Imagine what a rain delay already does to the TV ratings when it delays kick off 1 hour 45 minutes. Then throw 30 minutes of resceduled pre-game on top of that. ESPN / Direct TV / CBS would love an extra half hour of damn near dead air / regional replacement broadcast nationally so the band can take the field.

Likely the cause is tv, in this case ppv, during delays you just can't have more. getting the band out for pre-game would have taken more time. Broadcast companies pay for satellite time so they can get a break for severe weather not pre game stuff.

It has nothing to do with TV specifically.

The rule is if the weather delay happens pre-game, any remaining pre-game activites are canceled, and a 10 minute warm up is allowed 30 minutes after the last lightning strike in a 6 mile radius.

Even if they game wasn't televised anywhere, running through the T would have been canceled. TV's part of it, but its primarily for the players - who aren't robots waiting to go at the turn of a switch.

Still, it's part of the thrill at Neyland. My first game in 3 yrs because of being overseas. My azz was wet and cold......and I was dissapointed!

They also wouldn't have wanted anything possibly hurting the Neyland grass when it's in a fragile state. The Marshall game was homecoming. We weren't allowed to march at all for that game. I'm amazed they allowed the band to perform halftime Saturday.

I understand why we didn't do it but it seemed very weird to not see the team thru the T, especially at the 1st game of the season. I still had a great time at the game though.
