After the Vandy game, I read Helton was out. Then, I read that Pruitt said Helton was in and the two were headed out to recruit. A day later, Helton has taken a new job.

Since we are all experts now in coaching searches, it seems Helton was likely being interviewed, considered and vetted prior to yesterday. Wouldn’t Helton have told Pruitt? If so, shouldn’t this look more like a organized hire that is already well underway and not the crazy scramble we have seen in the past?

If it’s a scramble either Pruitt dropped the ball or Helton blindsided him.

Scramble? It’s a scramble after one day? Some of you don’t have the fortitude to endure another search. You would think we would be the most prepared fan base in the country

I thought he said he wasn't firing/getting rid of/demoting him. I never read where Pruitt said he was not going anywhere.

You’d think it would be a transition already underway and not a scramble. Especially with the significance of the early signing period. We will see what it is. I hope they have an incredible announcement soon so we don’t have to track planes for months.

Have you ever stopped to think just maybe he is actually trying to hire a good one which doesn’t happen in hours especially if they are still coaching?

If Friend is named OC then this experiment is officially over. We’ll know Pruitt isn’t the guy and he’s here just to collect a paycheck.
Next year will provide us answers to a lot of questions on this program going forward...we will really see if Pruitt can do this for real..

It’s a win-win imo. Lot of credible sources were saying Pruitt might’ve made a change anyway. This way, with Helton moving on, both sides are happy. I don’t see it as a blindside at all.

Given the immediate reports following the Vandy game of Helton being fired leads me to believe that parties mutually agreed to part ways prior to the game. The WKY job was already in the works. I do not think there was any backstabbing it just looks that way because from what I have seen this year, Pruitt runs a tight ship and doesn't let internal affairs leak.

I don’t know that. I do know that we’ll be better off not having another coach learning on the job.

So you have went from "Pruitt is not the guy" to " I don't know" . Saban and Belichek were learning on the job earlier in their careers. I do not know the best move now but I hope when the O.C. pick is made that most of Volnation is favorable to it.
