Because the game clock was dead til a snap??
Even though the play itself takes very little time, the rules of American football dictate that the game clock will continue to run until the next play (as with any play where the ball carrier is tackled in bounds). With the 40 second play clock in the NFL and NCAA, a team can run off over two minutes with three consecutive kneel downs.
Was glad to hear it. At least they were into the game unlike our O. I was however disappointed to not see any batteries hurled at Muschimp though.
My daughter was right in the middle of it. She said several Gator players started it all by standing on the bench taunting the students, taunting them, throwing Gatorade into the stands and flipping them off. I think responsibilities resides on both sides, there just was more students than players so it was spotlighted more. You can take that for what it's worth. And, just to be clear, my daughter was embarrassed by the chant as well.
First of all, the people of Knoxville could not have been friendlier or more gracious the entire weekend. My wife and I had a great first trip to Knoxville.
Every fanbase has a couple of hundred people out of 100,00 or so who step out of line.
The only thing about the game atmosphere at Neyland that I did not like is the amplification of the band and student section that made it impossible for us to hear the Florida band, even though we sat three rows behind the UF band.
Rock concert type speakers are placed five feet from our band so that even the piped in music drowns out the opposing band.
The "FU Florida" chant I presume came from the student section as it was amplified as well. Had it not been for the amplification, it would not have been so obvious. The speakers can make 100 voices sound like 10,000.
Good luck the rest of the season and thanks to everyone in UT land for being so hospitable!
