Did fans chant F U florida?

Yesterday I took my daughter to her first game at Neyland. She is 13. We were right above the band and the F U chant from the student section made a distinct impression on her. But she heard far worse from many
Florida fans behind us. When she pointed out the cheer I told it her she should never chant something like that. Her response was simply this, "I know dad, but their fans were so nasty they deserved it." That was her honest assessment. I did the right thing and told her you have to maintain your integrity no matter what the other team does. But in my mind I was thinking exactly the same thing she was...they deserved it. Bottom line is this...you might like to bring a child with the expectation that they won't hear that kind of language, but you are kidding yourself if you do. You bring kids to see UTC but you don't bring them to a hostile environment like yesterday until you are ready to accept all that comes with it. My daughter grew up a little yesterday and I'm okay with that. Our students pay a lot of money to support our university but Muschamp is a professional paid a lot to represent his. So stop with that ridiculous comparison. Anyone who defends him has lost touch with reality. Go Vols!

Who's defending Muschamp?

We hate him as much as you do, possibly more.

Know what's really good about that read? It's from July of 2013, which also happens to coincide with UF's last arrest.

That's right, while Meyer had a terrible arrest record, Muschamp's brand of discipline has meant UF's last player arrest occurred 440 days ago.

In fact, in 2014 UF players have gotten a grand total of 1 non-arrest ticket/citation. 1.

Meanwhile, UT has had 10, TAMU has had 10, UGA 8, OM 6, UK 6, Bama 5, LSU 4, Mizzou 4, AU 2, MSU 1, USC 1, VU 1, and UAr 0.

So, just to recap, the 2014 totals for SEC football team arrests/citations/charges, from worst to best, are...

Tennessee - 10
Texas A&M - 10
Georgia - 8
Mississippi - 6
Kentucky - 6
Alabama - 5
Louisiana State - 4
Missouri - 4
Auburn - 2
Mississippi State - 1
South Carolina - 1
Vanderbilt - 1
Florida - 1
Arkansas - 0

But thanks for motivating me to look it up; very interesting read indeed.

And with so many recruits in town this past weekend, it will be interesting to see how that scene will play out in recruiting.

I was referring to posters who have said that he was an a$$ after the game simply because of that cheer. I am in the Air Force and have several friends who went to UF and hate Muschamp. I'm not speaking to UF fans. I value the input of Fla fans and/or former players who are regulars on our board.

Hardly, just posting facts.

It is a little amusing to me that there are actually folks on this planet that would equate or try to compare tens of thousands of people (most of them adults) chanting something as profane as F-U to a visiting program and its team with 1 man responding to that profanity with “It’s great to see all these people disappointed, I love it.”.

I'm not sure you could find anyone else making that comparison with a straight face.

Yeah, I sure did; in 4 years, with most of them coming in his first 2 seasons when he was cleaning house of all the entitled Meyer players.

I also noticed that UT has the same number over the same time period.

point is that any florida fan acting like they are emotionally scarred because kids at a football game yelled F U is ridiculous.

Thanks for clarifying. :hi:

Haven't seen anyone claim emotional scarring; only that Muschamp's response was just that, a response.

I'm not sure about that kids thing, though. First, students are adults; and second, even if we conceded that students were kids, there weren't enough in attendance to make that loud of a chant, so obviously it wasn't just a bunch of "kids".

Obviously no one can say that ones and twos of other fans weren't joining in, but you are dead wrong about the "not enough in attendace to make that loud of a chant". I was right above them, they were Loud, aided by mic amplification and it was 98% students doing that chant.

I really wish they hadn't done it. It was really disrespectful. But yes, it was also really disrespectful of Muschamp to show his ass about it, especially to those of us who were well-behaved.

I wish our students would behave with a little more decorum in either case.

Had Dante Fowler shown restraint and not have thrown water in one of our peers face maybe we would have :)

Well, a lot of your fellow fans who were also in attendance disagree; if every single UT student, including graduate students, went to the game, and every single one of them was chanting, it'd still only amount to about 27,000 of the 102,000 people, soooo....

Had to be a little awkward for my cousins if they were in attendance, though; 1 was a scholarship athlete at UT and her sister a UF graduate... I haven't heard if they were at the game together yet.

My views on Will Muschamp are well documented. He's a half wit caveman posing as a football coach, and I've said as much here, GatorCountry.com, Tiger Droppings, Sunday school and in client meetings.

Likewise I've made my opinions knows about UT's students here and on other forums...and I've been critical of UF fans in various forums also.

As for our players' behavior, I don't condone it. In fact I'm surprised Pittman didn't drop that cup of Gatorade while attempting to throw it at UT's student section. He's got more drops than catches this year.

You never answered my questions. Did you go to your Gator board and tell your compadres how embarrassed gator nation should be about Muschamp's and your player's behavior?

I represent myself, my family, my church, the company I work for, MUCH more frequently than I represent the University of Florida.

If you want to associate my opinions solely on my alma mater, or your experience with UF fans on a fall Saturday, and not other factors that shaped my value system, that's on you.

It's not like I'm the only person here who didn't like what happened yesterday.

Whether you like it or not you are a representative of your alma mater. Also, do you see me getting on any of my fellow Vol fans for being embarrassed by the chant? We/they have the right, you don't. If you don't see the difference, that's on you.

Perhaps if you took the time to read my posts, you would have found several examples of me being critical of UF fan behavior. You just failed to READ the posts, by your own admission.

Here's a sample of what you missed...

All those were prior to my interaction with you. I gave you several examples of bad FL behaviors and you not once condemned them and even on one occasion said something to the effect that it was big boy football and I shouldn't do road games.

The result of this could impact the producers of the game broadcasts and sponsors. Especially when it is thrown right into the American living room and den. It will not be viewed lightly. I have already seen this posted on boards of other schools and suggestions that UT be banned from broadcasts. Not that it is not a biased suggestion but it is a black eye for the program.

Also, those who are saying what do you expect when you go to a rivalry game and you should not be offended are the same people who preach political correctness. Bunch of hypocrites.
