Did CBJ throw Coach Scott under the bus this morning?

Correct me if I am wrong. Doesn't butch call plays?

He doesn't. But as any head coach, he signs off on ganeplans and he has the authority to intervene and tell Scott and Shoop what he wants as he's listening in to the calls on the headset during the game. He clearly didn't direct Scott to run the ball on the goal line, so him saying "we've gotta run the ball in there" this morning on his show is pretty pathetic imo.

Butch needs to take full blame for the loss. He does not need to throw his coaches under the bus. Man up Butch.

After the game he said the loss was on him. So I don't even buy it, because we did it at least twice. He's terrible. What is it guys? Is he too controlling or now he cannot even override his OC. We got into the red zone and went straight passes even though JK was the one who got us down there. Not a single run to your playmaker. That's coaching malpractice. It's inexcusable and incompetent. A good coach takes our team and wins that game by 14+. We have all talked about how in order for Butch to succeed here he needs to learn from his mistakes and grow, it's year five and the idiot is not learning, instead he continues to make the same idiotic mistakes. We have went through our fair share of coordinators now and nothing changes, it all points to Lyle Butch Jones.

A lot of players didn't execute to a high level either. Now how much of that is directly related to coaching I do not know. The sad thing is the defense actually looked a lot better, still some mistakes, but overall I liked it. The offense was slow and flat until Kelly got it going. But play calling and personnel decisions obviously hamper us. Not using Byrd is a waste. Wiggins on the sidelines while the secondary gets burnt. Plus we have the worst FG kickers in America. We hit one of those FGs or punch it in on one of our red zone trips, we win that game. It was just ugly all around.

Our coach, I'll no longer use his name, is a man of low character I'm afraid.

Jones reminds me of a manager I used to work for. We had meetings designing a solution and he pushed for us to do it a certain way. We mostly disagreed but hey he's ultimately the boss so we said ok.

Testing finds several issues we had to fix, and in the follow up we get yelled at. When we point out it was his call and we told him it was a bad idea, he responded back that it was on us for "not pushing back hard enough to convince him he was wrong."

That guy was gone in a year after we starting jumping ship and management made the move to keep others from following suit.

How hard was it for him to call a timeout if he didn't like the plays being called. Butch has no balls. You better believe Saban would have been on the headset if he didn't like what was going on. Its just sad that he blew another game against Florida! How long do we have to keep watching this crap!

Butch always has a headset on. He has to hear what plays are being called. No excuses! He is the CEO of football operations! Every facet of the game should be in his control.

The Oklahoma game was the beginning of the end, but last night showed it to everyone that he's completely out of his depth as a coach.

If he goes 4-4 in the sec this year he may survive with 2018 being win the east or else. Like it or not but 8-4 likely gets him to 2018 but no extension. 3-5 or worse in sec and he likely is coaching somewhere else. This is reality like it or not.

I watched it, he kept saying that you have to run it when you have 4 plays from the 1 yard line.

Sure seemed to me that he put that on Scott.

Butch still needs to go, don't care who's fault it was. Actually, your the head coach you should have pulled rank and override the pass play calls, you do have final say on all calls...offense and defense.

That is what he said but we don't know that he was "throwing Scott under the bus". That is how this thread is interpreting it. Of course, Jones has input on the play calling and could have been including himself in the blame. After a loss, we have a tendency to scrutinize and dissect every sentence.

If he did that then he couldn't blame anyone if it failed.

Jones hasn't earned any benefit of the doubt when it comes to stuff like this; if it sounded like he was throwing him under the bus, then he was throwing him under the bus. He has a history of deflecting blame so he's going to lose out in a situation like this.

Sgt Carter will be here through the 2018 season no matter what....I firmly believe that.
