Heard on some other threads that CBJ took over coaching WR's for the rest of year... I don't know how much legitimacy this has, but seeing their growth and amount of plays they have made over the last 3 games would make sense if this is the case. Also, if this is the case shouldn't Azzanni be gone at years end... Who do u think CBJ will pursue to coach that position at years end... What do y'all think?

Don't know. But they have put up better #s in the last 3 it seems.

If the Head Coach has to take over day to day duties of any position group due to leadership failure, that position coach should be let go immediately IMO, with or without $$$ base on the contract.

So, I have my doubts about what those threads report. But, maybe the Head Coach has gotten more directly involved than normal? IDK.

CBJ may be covering a bit for coach Azz and that would be understandable considering what a great recruiter he is.

Many schools carry a fair position coach simply because he's a great recruiter.

Would you want a great position coach that can't recruit?

Like it or not we'll never get back to the top without great recruiting and the rock solid proof of that is how much better we've become on the field with the last 2 great recruiting classes.

2 more great recruiting classes like the last 2 and we'll be damn near unstoppable.

Great recruiting is the lifeblood to great teams and lots of Wins in college football.

Always has been, always will be.

CDD recruited on the level of Vandy or worse and we see where that got us.

CBJ and staff are recruiting close to the alaBubba and UGa level and we see where that has us heading.

I prefer lots of WINS over a coach that can't recruit.

The passing game has changed. I don't know what took so long, it was obvious and weak last year. Before we were just throwing screens to the sideline a majority of the time. It's opened up more now. I believe the lack of routes was the problem, not the receivers technically. They didn't have a chance before. I started this before the GA game. Way before that actually, as did others. But I'm all for Azzanni getting gone.

They can recruit the number 1 class, but if they regress, it ain't helping. I'd rather have coaches who can develop players

It has been said that a few of the Wr's have voiced their displeasure with the lack of a passing game and some have said they would transfer if changes weren't made. We have seen better play from the group as well more productivity in the passing game.

Adjustments were necessary. Wanna see more of the Josh Malone plays from Saturday (fortunately that ball was slightly-poorly covered) and wanna see the HC standing in the hallway, looking at star -receivers lined up at the door of the passing coach's office, ready to sign on to UT / WRU !

Impossible, they've been playing better and if Butch were coaching them they would be worse.

Coach Debord finally got his finger out of his butt, and opened up the playbook. Butch put the mic down and started relating to the kids (attitudinal adjustment). Players responded to the new coaching. Adjustments made within the game (not just at half) all the way through the game just like "real" coaches do.

GO VOLS!

Fallacy of limited alternatives. UT can have and SHOULD have a great position coach that can recruit and especially at the WR position. For that job, you often have either up and comers who want to show out or career professionals satisfied to wind their careers out helping WR's grow up.

Short answer- there are LOTS of potential candidates that are both good coaches and can recruit as well as Azzani if not better.

FWIW, I do not see practice. I do not know the inner workings of the staff... so I don't even know if blame is correctly laid on Z.

Why do people think this? He was ranked #352 out of all recruiters in 2015 (FYI, Tee was #2). He was#152 in 2014 and #322 for 2013 (granted he was in Wisconsin then). At this point for the 2016 class, DeBord is ranked ahead of him...

Yes. Don't believe me? Well you can find quotes on VQ saying Jones took a more hands on approach particularly with the WR corp.

Hopefully by next year, Coach Manning will be able to take on the wide receivers as well as the quarterbacks.

I think he'd be a pretty good recruiter too....
