He and the chancellor have University of Cincinnati connections and Michigan. Just wondered. I know politically sometimes, especially in Tennessee's College Systems, plays a huge role.

It would be foolish to assume his opinion wasn't part of the equation. It would be just as foolish to believe it was a huge factor.

Don't believe he did. It was Haslam's call. Butch is actually close with Blackburn, supposedly calls him occasionally. My guess is that if Butch couldn't have Bohn from Cincy as his AD, that DB was his second choice. Jmo.

Shortest leash among all the candidates imo was with Currie. Showed at K-State he isn't afraid to make a move even tho the status quo had a decent record.

Why Bohn? Butch never worked for Bohn. Babcock from VT maybe

Iirc, it was reported awhile back, last fall, that he was supposedly in favor of bringing in Bohn. Assuming he had ties somewhere, could be mistaken. Perhaps you're right, maybe it was Babcock, would make more sense.

I don't think Jones wanted Blackburn.

I agree with the rest.

I heard they were not at Cincinnati at the same time.
So, I think you letting your imagination get the best of you.

Bohn didn't start at Cincinnati until 2014. He was the AD at Colorado who tried to hire Butch before Jones became the coach here.

Why? Jones got to know him when he was hired in December 2012 while DB was still here. I've heard from both Swain and Mathews that he's close with Blackburn and speaks with him regularly.

Butch was gone from Cincy when Davenport arrived. they don't know each other.. besides she got direction on AD from money people, not staff

Butch and Barnes were pushing Gilbert with the donors.

Larry, do you think the in fighting will ever stop? Or will it take someone telling the Haslams your money isn't needed here anymore

whoever replaces the Haslams, will still be the bully on the block. All ADs have someone like the Haslams in charge. We have a press box named after Tom Elam who pushed the buttons until he died. It ain't ever gonna change.

and there will always be those under the # 1 guy trying to take his place.

No connection here. No coach wants an ad that fired a NC winner. He wants the AD that understands coaches. Blackburn was that AD. I don't feel Currie is a coaches AD. His record of coach hires is not very good. I hope Davenport makes the coach hiring process a team activity.

I just don't understand an "employee" having input into the hiring of his or her boss. The position of "boss" is to administer to the needs and best performance of the company. It is the job of the employee to carry out the policies set forth by the boss. If the employee doesn't like or can't do what the boss requires, then go find another job.

I'm sure he was part of the process, but with him being on the hot seat, I don't think he was as big of a part as some may think. If he's not here next year, his opinion wouldn't have mattered anyway.
