Did anyone see this on the news last night?

This entire discussion is absolutely bizzare. Are Vol fans actually trying to justify one of the worst beatdowns in recent Vols history by making the argument that the team played good for two and half quarters? The world really has turned upside down.

No. The point is that gator fans and players(UT fans as well) act like that game was a total beatdown that we had no chance in. It wasn't until after that fumble. Think what you want but that fumble killed any hope of us coming back. Every time somebody tries to shed any positive light you guys act like they are being ridiculous. Are you guys so beaten down at this point that you spin everything into UT sucking? Seriously, it's getting old. I'm no UT homer but I'd rather take the homeristic view that we CAN win. It makes no sense to act so defeatist. For one thing, it's factually wrong and it makes you seem like a beaten down Vandy fan that expects to lose. Our program has regressed but not to the point that you negavols try to convince everybody of. It really is sickening to hear "fans" say that we have no chance when there is very little reason to think so.

Berry's play gave us a shot, but we had been dominated up to that point and we were dominated all but a drive and half after that.

I don;t want to be a Fulmer basher, but that was a really stupid thing to say.

As opposed to the stupid stuff that comes out of your mouth? Fulmer and UF have turned you guys into a bunch of defeatist pansies. Why don't you go root for Kentucky or Vandy? Being realistic is one thing. Being blinded to any positives that can be taken is stupid in my opinion.

Chill out dude.

I am not sure what your point is. I wrote that Berry's play gave us a shot, but that doesn't make up for the fact that Florida had been dominating us up until that point (although I think we did get a 3 and out on our first defensive series). And 1 and a half drives later they started dominating us again.
To say we played well for 3 quarters is what a defeatist pansy would say.

I'm going to have to disagree. Saying that UT has no chance and posts claiming we will get beat 41-7 are much worse. You say we suck and have no chance and got destroyed last year. I say that we haven't played well but still have a chance, UF hasn't been that impressive and last years loss ON THE ROAD was more competitive than people think. Saying that we have no chance is much crazier/stupider than saying we do have a shot and match up well. You guys bash people for bringing up past victories or championships while bringing up past defeats as examples. I think there's a word for that.

:eek:lol: You talk about saying stupid things and then tell me to chill out when I comment on your stupid comment. Wow, you aren't very bright. Saying that we played with FL for 3 quarters is a fact. Sorry that facts aren't convenient for your opinion.

Based on what?

No, it was not even close to being competitive. Keep sluppering CPF's Kool-Aid.

No we don't match up well actually.

Which is more relevant to tomorrow's game? A title 10 years ago or a beat down last year from our opponent tomorrow?

I agree with this. :good!:

Didn't Fulmer bring it up the past defeat, which is the basis for this thread?

Reading comprehension. He brought up the fact that we were competitive in that game. I see past defeats used as justification for Fulmer being gone all the time. Those same people pounce on anybody that brings up past SECCs, NCs or winning percentage. Not saying either one is correct, just pointing out the double standard.

About the Florida talkin trash...
They have the right to think and say that. When you beat someone down like that(as in UT vs. GA last year), You have the right to run as much smack and talk as much trash as you want. All you can do if on the losing end is take it on the chin and use it as motivation to return the favor next time. Dang Phil you can't even lose right anymore.....

I think we have a chance to pull out the upset no doubt, but should we lose by 21 tomorrow, my prediciton is we struggle to win 5 games this season, more like 4.

Neither. If both teams were fielding the same players and coaches under the same conditions then either would be relevant. Our OL matches up well against their DL. Our receivers match up well against their secondary. Our front 7 matches up well against their OL. Those matchups are why some people believe we can win if we dominate both lines and control the ball. Is sluppering a word? I'm not a Fulmerite. I'm a Vol fan. Not sure who you're a fan of. Sounds like Florida to me.

I haven't said anything for a week and it finally got to me. I thought we would win this game before the season started. I'm less sure of that after the first 2 games(not because of anything UF has done). However, I can't understand any fan not giving us a chance. If it's so impossible for us to win then why is the line 8.5 points? Why are there analysts picking us to win? Even the media that we accuse of hating us is being more optimistic than a lot of our fans on the board.

He should just say we got our butts whooped and be done with it. I hate the lets pretend game. 39 point loss, there is nothing you can take from that that is a positive. I wish phil would stop trying to put some warped spin on the fact we got clowned.

Our qb was under constant pressure against UCLA and UAB, but you think we match up well against UF?

We have the least amount of sacks in the SEC, but we match up well against UF?

And it doesn't matter how well our receivers match up when our qb has little control over where the ball is going.

When is the last time UT has done that?

Yes, I was born and raised a UF fan.

Actually I'm a fan of reality.

There has been plenty of emphasis on the fact that we got our butt kicked. They have a sign up in practice! Phil is also trying to put on a confident front that we can play with UF. Do we really want our players to go into that game thinking they got slaughtered and had no chance to win last year. Or would it be better for them to go in thinking that we had opportunities last year that we let get away from us and caused us to get our butt kicked. We want our players angry but confident. We don't want them feeling angry and unsure.

All in all does in really matter what happened last year? I know the media keeps bringing it up and all. Its in the past.. There is nothing we can do about that now. I hope florida is still thinking about last year and not focusing on tomorrows game. We should do better than last year. (well that shouldnt be hard).. The vols need to focus on this weeks game .
